So you've had a look at the best Oscars frocks but how about the worst? Unfortunately, there are quite a few A-list celebs who made the cut ahead of Monday's 2012 Academy Awards ceremony. Best-dressed stars Hilary Swank and Gwyneth Paltrow score a double whammy for appearing on both best and worst lists! Prepare yourselves as I introduce you to swans, suits and the odd toilet-roll holder. Drumroll please!
Liam Hemsworth was one of the many Aussies who partied in Hollywood following the big Oscars festivities on the weekend. He made appearances at both the Vanity Fair and Elton John parties, but it seems he also found time to make it to InStyle’s bash, where he bumped into High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale (she was also at Elton John’s soirée). The two were also spotted leaving together, with the Daily Mail reporting, “The pair were seen chatting outside Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood where they appeared to swap numbers before leaving together.” This isn’t the first time Liam has been linked to a Disney girl — he’s well-known for his on-off relationship with The Last Song co-star Miley Cyrus. So if this party time with Ashley leads to a romantic union, can we assume Liam has a type?
We love the red-carpet dresses, but we're total suckers for the accessories. The Oscars' red carpet is like a jewel-encrusted accessory heaven! From Gwyneth Paltrow's Louis Vuitton seahorse earrings to Hilary Swank's Anna Hu hair pins and Busy Philipps's Irene Neuwirth gems, we've got the best covered. Click on our slideshow to see the prettiest, most sparkly accessory moments on the red carpet. Blingtastic, we say!
Natalie Portman followed up her Oscar win with a casual breakfast out in LA alongside fiancé Benjamin Millepied, who politely held the door open for her. Yesterday the Miss Dior Chérie model released a statement slamming Dior's John Galliano for his recent anti-Semitic comments, and she says she refuses to be associated with the designer. Check out her full statement in the video.
The last two days have been chock-a-block full of Oscars red carpet as well as all the pre and post party looks. Got Academy Awards fatigue yet? This morning we're wrapping up our coverage of Monday's grand finale to the awards season, and we just had to share this eye candy with you. Cute boys in suits always perk us up (in a totally non-lecherous, I'm-really-checking-out-their-designer-suits kinda way), so we thought we'd round up the best dressed boys for your viewing pleasure. From the Justins — Timberlake and Bieber — to Best Actor Winner Colin Firth (who'll always be Mr Darcy to us), to home grow hottie Ryan Kwanten — here's our best dressed list. Enjoy!
We have a crush on Colin Firth. Not only is he an amazingly talented actor (evidenced by his well-deserved Oscar win for The King’s Speech on Monday) but he really seems like an all-round, down-to-earth nice guy. After the big night wrapped up he headed to the set of Ellen DeGeneres’ show before flying home. You see, two weeks ago Colin appeared on Ellen’s show as an interview guest and after sharing the story of how he met his wife, Livia Giuggioli, Ellen gifted him with a fancy pair of her branded underwear for him to wear to the Oscars. He must’ve liked them, because after winning his statue he gave the Oscar its own miniature pair! Watch the always-charming actor in the clip.
The Oscars festivities may be over for this year, but we're still excited about all the good times that went down on Monday! Once the action on the red carpet, the stage, and in the press room was over, the stars headed off to the after parties to keep the good times rolling. Between the Vanity Fair and Elton John bashes, celebs had their pick of places to let loose with a drink and friends. We've narrowed down their fun to 15 great photos — click through to see who made the cut!
It's not over just yet peeps. Before we say a big buh-bye to the Oscars for another year, it's time to check out all the action from the after parties. The two biggies on any social butterfly's calendar are the Vanity Fair after party and Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party. We've already seen most of the celebs from the latter event but sneaky Kim Kardashian arrived fashionably late. There's Dianna Agron, Charlize Theron, Jessica Biel, Madonna and literally sooooooooooooooo many A-listers that you have to see it to believe it. So what are you waiting for? Ch, ch, check it out!
During the Oscars, host Anne Hathaway changed her hair, makeup, and dress an astonishing eight times between arriving on the red carpet and heading off to the Vanity Fair Oscars party. And with each change makeup artist Kate Lee documented which products she used and what she changed for each new look. Curious to see how much really goes into keep a host pretty and primped backstage at an awards show? Then check out what Lee did to create each of Anne's loveliest looks and tell us your fave.
What a star-studded line up the Oscars had yesterday! Even better? The fact that there were so many Aussies at the event, whether they attended the actual show or rubbed shoulders with other famous folk at one (or more) of the swanky parties. We had high hopes for our nominated acting talent — Nicole Kidman, Jacki Weaver and Geoffrey Rush — but unfortunately the competition was too strong this awards season. Presenters Hugh Jackman and Cate Blanchett have had their own brushes with Oscar — Hugh hosted two years ago and Cate’s won best supporting actress — while Aussies behind-the-scenes like Shaun Tan and Emile Sherman walked away with Oscar gold for their respective projects The Lost Thing and The King’s Speech. Over at the after parties, Chris Hemsworth turned up with wife Elsa Pataky, while his younger brother Liam managed to do double time at both the Vanity Fair and Elton John bash. Other Aussies who dressed and suited up for the huge Hollywood event include True Blood hunk Ryan Kwanten, Naomi Watts, Isla Fisher and Mia Wasikowska.
