The lead up to the Oscars (the show's on tomorrow!) is always a busy time for celebrities, and it seems like this week has been one of the most hectic yet! Between the Brit Awards on Wednesday night, a few movie premieres and screenings and a lot of pre-Oscars parties, we had a lot to keep up with! Miranda Kerr and her husband Orlando Bloom put an affectionate end to rumours about marriage problems, while another Aussie, Chris Hemsworth, brought his young family to Sydney for a quick work-related trip. Kate Middleton stepped out on royal duty, with a very special bump on board, and Rihanna celebrated her birthday with on-again boyfriend Chris Brown. That's not even close to all that happened this week — click through to see the whole week in pictures!
Stars Spend a Big Pre-Globes Night Celebrating The Art of Elysium
The Art of Elysium organisation hosted their annual Heaven gala Saturday evening in downtown LA. They closed down a traffic tunnel in the city to play host to many of their famous supporters, including honouree David Arquette and many other longtime supporters like Elijah Wood, Busy Philipps and John Legend. There were plenty of couples who celebrated together the night before the Golden Globes — Ali Larter arrived with husband Hayes MacArthur, John Legend walked with fiancée Chrissy Teigen, Krysten Ritter posed with Brian Geraghty, and Revenge's Ashley Madekwe brought husband Iddo Goldberg. Joe Manganiello, however, was solo posing for photographers.
There was a fashion parade on the grey carpet, too. Kirsten Dunst wore Louis Vuitton and said hello to friends like Jaime King. Rachel Bilson picked a long-sleeved Valentino, and Stacy Keibler donned Carolina Herrera. Another woman who picked a sleeved gown was Julianne Hough, who wore Jenny Packham and spoke about her plans to hit the red carpet at the Globes today. Her boyfriend Ryan Seacrest will be there as a host, but Julianne revealed she usually preps for awards shows with a group of girlfriends and the Ellie Goulding Pandora station on! Busy wore a sparkly LBD and opened up about the new season of Cougar Town, as well as her upcoming big 2013 that'll include the birth of her second child. Busy told us she's obviously excited to be a mum again, but is almost equally excited about Kim and Kanye's baby!
Jess, Nicole and More Celeb Mums Do High Glamour Beauty at Baby2Baby Gala
The first annual Baby2Baby Gala, which was held on Saturday night in Culver City, brought out some of our favourite Hollywood mums wearing stunning designer creations and showing off super-glamorous hair and makeup looks. Honouree Jessica Alba didn’t let her hair detract from her pretty embellished Valentino gown and pulled it back into a sleek bun, while fellow Baby2Baby board member Nicole Richie went all faux bob on us with some finger waves. As for Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims and Devon Aoki, glossy waves were the hair order of the day. Click through to see more A-list mums on their night out for a good cause.
Hollywood Mums Toast Jessica Alba at First Annual Baby2Baby Gala
Celebrity mothers were out in force on Saturday night for the first annual Baby2Baby Gala in Culver City, California. A Valentino-clad Jessica Alba was honoured at the event, which was presented by jeweller Harry Winston, and she celebrated with her good friend Nicole Richie, who like Jessica is a board member for the Baby2Baby foundation. Over the past few years Jessica has turned her passion for being a mother into a successful business — she founded The Honest Company, which believes in 100 percent natural and eco-friendly family products. Other A-list guests on the night included Rachel Zoe, Mindy Kaling (who presented Jessica with her award), Ali Larter and Julie Bowen.
Brooklyn, Rashida, Amy and More Get in the Gift-Giving Spirit at an LA Gala
Brooklyn Decker, Amy Adams and Emma Roberts stepped out for a good cause at the Wantful: The Art of Giving benefit in LA on Monday. The event, which was hosted by Rashida Jones and benefited the International Rescue Committee, also brought out Rashida's Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler, as well as Kristen Bell and Ali Larter. The group, including some of their significant others, posed for photos together before sitting down to dinner.
Emma was dressed in a silky black tee and striped Vena Cava skirt for the gala, a far cry from the look we last saw her in. She paid homage to her aunt Julia at a Halloween party over the weekend by re-creating the infamous outfit from Pretty Woman. Brooklyn talked about her own Halloween costume plans on Twitter, saying that she had picked a look that is both "scary and funny."
Celebs Mark the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic With Family and Friends
Saturday's Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA was a family affair for stars including Rachel Zoe, Alessandra Ambrosio, Selma Blair, and Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romjin. The India-inspired event also drew Lauren Conrad and her boyfriend William Tell, who were spotted cosying up to each other in the VIP tent, Twilight star Ashley Greene, and Justin Long, among others. We spotted Justin horsing around with Jerry and Rebecca's twin daughters during the kid-friendly party, where fellow mums Rachel and Alessandra also did some bonding with their little ones.
The match was a close one, but polo star Nacho Figueras' team reigned supreme with a score of 10-9 after actress Ali Larter kicked things off by throwing out the first toss. Rachel presented the Ralph Lauren model with an oversized bottle of champagne during the awards ceremony, during which he was honoured as the day's MVP, with her son Skyler Berman and husband Rodger Berman by her side.
Natural Beauty Is The Look Du Jour At Polo Classic
We've gotten so accustomed to seeing statement lips/eyes/brows/hair/everything at the many celebrity events each week that when stars step out looking natural — like they have done at the Third Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles yesterday — we actually get a little bit excited. It's so nice to see clear, glowing skin, natural lip colours and hair that looks carefree and easy to copy (very important, obviously). While each gorgeous celebrity had a key feature to make them stand out — Lauren Conrad's curls, Rachel Zoe's lip, Mandy Moore's alabaster skin — they all looked like they were happy to be in their own skin, using makeup only to accentuate the goods that they've all already got. Click through to see which looks we loved, and who else rounded out the Polo.
John Mayer Gets a Haircut and Parties Post-Split
Breakups occasionally inspire a makeover, and that seems to be the case for John Mayer. He stepped out in West Hollywood on Saturday night with a fresh new haircut. John partied with pals B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling and Hilary Duff at the Mondrian's Skybar to toast Mindy's upcoming comedy series, The Mindy Project. While John caught up with TV's finest, some 35 miles to the west, Katy Perry spent her evening dining at Disneyland's ultra-exclusive Club 33. John and Katy split late last week after only a few short weeks of dating. Since news of the breakup came out, both have spent time in the company of friends. John and Katy share a mutual acquaintance in Hilary, who spent Friday night partying with Katy in Santa Monica.
The Bachelorette Starlets Put a Glam Spin on Red, White, and Blue
Thursday night's red carpet showdown at the Bachelorette LA premiere proved to be quite the Americana-hued affair. Let's recap: Aussie Isla Fisher stepped out in a sexy red lace Reem Acra number, pairing it with nude satin Sergio Rossi pumps and minimalist Bulgari jewelry. Lizzy Caplan went the ultra-curve-hugging route with a white corseted Dolce & Gabbana sheath and sleek gold sandals, while Ali Larter struck a particularly retro note with her navy-striped ensemble. Kirsten Dunst's Jean Paul Gaultier dress not only made us swoon with its perfect shade of cobalt blue, but it also kept our attention with its subtle trench-coat-inspired button detailing and soft neckline ruffles. Her studded Chloé bag and classic Rolex watch added just enough intrigue to keep the outfit daring. With a star-spangled lineup of Bachelorette looks to choose from, which starlet gets your best-dressed vote?
