Within you'll find our top picks from the budget category for each essential item in your beauty kit. Best mascara under $20? Got it. Best concealer under $20? We're using it. Come budget-conscious beauties, come.
Nars does an amazing teal in their Soft Touch Shadow Pencil Collection, it's called Limited Edition Heat ($39). For something cheaper but just as effective, try Bourjois Paris Sparkling Eyeliner Pencil in Vert Stupéfiant ($16.01). Keep your top lid lined with black, and gently run the green pencil under your eyes on the lash-line and then smudge it slighty. A cotton tip works really well for this.
It's the last month of Winter, and we're over halfway through the year — who's excited for some sunshine? While we won't pounce too early on Spring beauty, it is one of our favourite times of the year thanks to bright lips and a welcome dose of some fresh and crisp vitamin D. There's been so many great, new releases for the month of August, so we're bumping up our must-haves to 20. Care to join us?
We first noticed those glossy locks have been taken shade or two darker, and then we promptly got all gushy over her wear anywhere, taupe smoky. Kate Bosworth is traditionally a bright lip girl — all peach and lots of fun — but of late, she's been championing the nothing lipstick and a darker eye. It's grown up, it's sexy, we're obsessed. She hit the red carpet for the Audi Golden Globes kick-off bash in LA this week with a taupe smoky eye, another safe alternative that will take you from work, to dinner and then onto cocktails. So many smokies, so little time...
We don't know about you, but when we're shopping for a new lipstick, we're always drawn to the brights. Bold, matte orange? Oh yes please. Hot glossy pink? Get on our lips! But after seeing the very charming SK-II spokesperson and actress, Kate Bosworth, on the cover of Harper's Bazaar earlier this week, we couldn't help but notice her very plain but very sexy pink-nude lip. Different from a normal beige-nude, a pink-nude should match (and accentuate) your natural lip colour. We did some investigating to find out the exact lipstick brand and shade name Kate is wearing on the January cover of Harper's Bazaar, and also threw in another four options to get you in the mood for pink-nude. Lesson learned: Mute lips are sexy. Thanks Bozzie!
What do you get the girl who has everything? Beauty tools, that's what! If you want to spend a wee bit more than $20 on a gift, a luxe brush set is something many women would never buy for themselves, and the same goes for the more expensive styling tools like a ghd Styler or the Cloud Nine The Wand. And then there's the icons like the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (in 24K gold!) and the self tanning must-haves to consider. Step on in...
Where would we be without concealer? We use it to hide angry blemishes, dark circles under our eyes, pigmentation, and sometimes — when we're feeling really daring — as a matte, nude-look lipstick. The little pots imperfection-hiding goodness can be costly, though, so we thought it was high time some love went the budget concealer stars. We've tried and loved all of these, and we know you will too.
Early start, lots of writing, pretty pictures, lots of writing, fashion showing, lots of writing, celebrity interview, lots of writing, beauty delivery, lots of writing, event, bed, repeat. That's pretty much the gist of our daily lives here at Sugar... but of course we let our hair down, too! This week, FabSugar editor Ali was lucky enough to sit down with iconic designer Diane von Furstenberg, PopSugar's Jess got up close and personal with all the stars at Sony Foundation Wharf4Ward and BellaSugar had a play with some particularly special new products that hit our doorstep. There was much more that kept us busy — click through the gallery to see what else we got up to!
