Australian actress Portia de Rossi is promoting her new book, Unbearable Lightness, and sat down with Oprah Winfrey to tell her story. In the tell-all she reveals her 20-year battle with anorexia, bulimia and coming to terms with her sexuality. During her Oprah appearance, which airs Monday in the US, she says she once weighed only 37 kilograms and restricted herself to 300 calories a day.
Portia says when moved to Hollywood and landed a role on Ally McBeal opposite Calista Flockhart, her anorexia got worse. She eventually ended up collapsing on a movie set, where producers forced her to see a doctor who diagnosed her with osteoporosis, lupus, possible cirrohosis and told her that her organs were barely functioning. Portia was finally able to conquer her eating disorder and come out of the closet when she met wife Ellen Degeneres. Check out an excerpt from the interview and let me know what you think.
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart are husband and wife! TMZ confirms the two tied the knot yesterday in Santa Fe, NM, during a small wedding officiated by Gov. Bill Richardson. The two were seen looking very loving at an event in LA last week and it looks like they had a good reason for that glow as they prepared for their private ceremony. Calista and Harrison have been together since 2001 and announced their engagement in March 2009. He has four children and three grandchildren from previous marriages and is also a parent to Calista's son, Liam. Congrats to the happy couple!
Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep were among those who dressed up Thursday night to honour the career of legendary director Mike Nichols. The women were joined by stars from many of Mike's famous films like Dustin Hoffman, who starred in The Graduate, Emma Thompson, Natalie Portman and Tom Hanks. Julia took the stage to toast Mike, saying, "Mike is one of the few people in the world who's an 'EGOT'—it means he's won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony." She mingled with Oprah Winfrey afterward to catch up since their last chat about Eat, Pray, Love. Harrison Ford also shared kind words about Mike, but he spent most of the evening cuddling up to longtime love Calista Flockhart. The evening was notable for another reason—John Goodman showed off his dramatic weight loss and he made the rounds chatting with Hollywood veterans like Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty.
Sandra Bullock joins the list of amazing celebrity adoptive mums! Jessica Alba helps Kate Hudson avoid a wardrobe malfunction at the Tribeca Film Festival, Ashley Greene poses for a magazine as her Twilight costars start reshoots and Eva Longoria Parker launches her new fragrance with support from her fellow Desperate Housewives.
Jessica Simpson joined the stars of Extraordinary Measures last night for their LA premiere, sporting a big bouffant on the red carpet. Like Jess, one of the film's stars, Keri Russell, dressed in black for the event. Calista Flockhart sparkled in gold on Harrison Ford's arm, looking happy together following their Sunday of posing at the Golden Globes. While, Brendan Fraser was on hand to complete the film's trio of actors—he met up with Keri and Harrison once inside to smile for additional photos. Keri has been hard at work over the last week plugging their film, so it should be interesting to see if her efforts pay off when the film hits US cinemas tomorrow.
