Yes, the Met Gala may have dominated the fashion headlines this week (did you see the gowns?). But, that doesn't mean we didn't have other stylish opportunities to serve our search for this week's best-dressed celebrities. Miranda Kerr and Sarah Jessica Parker's versions of dressing down — Miranda wore a loose Vivienne Westwood jumpsuit and Alexander Wang heels to a showing of The Great Gatsby, SJP wore a vintage floral dress — proved to be some of our favourite looks of theirs. . . There's something about stars not trying too hard that we love. Kate Bosworth made a case for flared skirts (hers by Miu Miu), and of course, we're still impressed by some of the Met Gala style winners — namely, Rooney Mara and Rosie HW. Want more? Right this way!
Finding fresh inspiration for what to wear to the fashion industry's biggest week can be tricky. As we've discussed, you want to look good but feel comfortable — especially if you're pulling 12 hour days like us! We're turning to our fellow fashion editors from the US and UK for guidance. From Meredith Melling Burke from US Vogue's femme but classic ensembles to Kate Lanphear from US Elle's trademark all-black, to that Frenchy-cool that Emmanuelle Alt and Carine Roitfeld carry off so well — albeit in very different ways — we've rounded up our absolute favourite street style snaps of the world's best dressed editors for your perusal. Fashion week, come at me!
The stars took a break from the Paris Fashion Week front rows to party alongside Carine Roitfeld for CR Fashion Book's second-issue launch in Paris last night. Chic attendees were clearly feeling black, but each worked the classic palette in her own fashion-forward way. Joan Smalls put her left leg on display in a one-shoulder gown with a waist-high slit, Kate Moss went sheer in a Saint Laurent creation topped with a tuxedo blazer, while Jessica Chastain covered up in a formfitting, long-sleeved gown, and Jessica Alba got girlie in a textured one-shoulder minidress. Get a good head-to-toe look at each partygoer, then tell us, which all-black ensemble is most fabulous?
Stunning Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova has added "designer" to her list of accomplishments, with her exclusive shoe range launched on Net-A-Porter this week. In conjunction with chain-store retailer Centro, Natalia created pumps that come in three classic colours — black, nude and papaya — all sporting a subtle crown motif on the back of the heel. Two things make this situation even better: One, the shoes are priced at just $44 and two, all profit from the sales of the shoes will benefit The Naked Heart Foundation, the kid's charity Natalia founded in 2004. Pretty special, right? To celebrate the launch of the shoes, Natalia was the guest of honour at a cocktail party thrown by Net-A-Porter's Lucy Yeomans. Other attendees included Karlie Kloss, Mario Testino, Grace Coddington, Christian Louboutin and Carine Roitfeld, just to name a few. . . Harper's BAZAAR turns 15 this March, and to celebrate editor Kellie Hush commissioned 15 fashion icons to each design a special collector's edition cover — with all 15 options hitting stands this coming Monday, the 11th of February. The contributors credits for this collaborative project reads like a roll call of the industry's biggest names, with local labels sass & bide, Collette Dinnigan and Romance Was Born (pictured above) flying the Australian flag amongst the likes of Giorgio Armani, Victoria Beckham, Frida Giannini for Gucci, Christophe Lemaire for Hermès, Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Stella McCartney, Diane von Furstenberg, and Harper’s BAZAAR’s global fashion director, Carine Roitfeld. We took the opportunity to quiz Kellie about the impressive project. See what she had to say . . .
Paris Couture Fashion Week continues to attract the most enviable fashionistas, and the latest to claim their front-row seats were Carine Roitfeld, Miroslava Duma, Natalia Vodianova, and Dita Von Teese at Valentino and Elie Saab. Chanel's Haute Couture Spring '13 show at the Grand Palais also drew the likes of Diane Kruger, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jessica Alba (all clad in Chanel, of course). Meanwhile, Rita Ora, Clémence Poésy, and, editrix in chief Anna Wintour all turned out equally covet-worthy ensembles, some more fur and snakeskin laden than others — we're looking at you, Anna. With Paris Couture Fashion Week forging ahead and our first Kim Kardashian sighting at Stephane Rolland, step inside to get a closer look at what everyone is wearing. While we love taking in the couture runway fodder, it's as much about what we see on the catwalk as it off. In as much, the front row and outside arrivals are already proving jam-packed with A-list styling inspiration, courtesy of Jessica Alba, Chloë Moretz, Laetitia Casta, and Emmanuelle Alt, who all arrived at the Christian Dior show yesterday looking unbelievably put together considering the snowy weather. Step inside to get a closer look at what they're wearing — and stay tuned for even more stunning arrivals to Paris Couture Fashion Week.
