The Essential Wardrobe: 10 of the Best Cashmere Crew Knits

With the temperature hitting proper-cold, Winter levels we've got a sudden interest in all things warming: hot chocolate, homemade soups and cosy knits.

With the temperature hitting proper-cold, Winter levels we've got a sudden interest in all things warming: hot chocolate, homemade soups and cosy knits. But not any old acrylic blend. Nuh-uh! The most luxurious yarn of all is cashmere, and this week we're going to investigate why it's worth it's weight in Max Brenner chocolate drops. This luxurious yarn is essentially the underlayer of fleece collected from the wool of the Cashmere (or Kashmir) goat. It's strong, very warm and exceedingly soft to touch  making cashmere a brilliant insulator and velvety-smooth to wear. Can you hear those cash registers ringing? Ka-ching!

Once you wear cashmere, it's hard to go back. Whether you're a cashmere collector from way back, or are yet to invest in your first piece  let us walk you through the best brands to buy from. These labels know their knits, so you can rest assured that these classic crews will pay for themselves in the chilly months to come. Cost per wear, remember? Winter, come at us!

Sore feet (and backs!) aside, fashion week left us with a tonne of new season inspiration. The big trends and hottest colours indicate that Spring/Summer 2013-'14 is going to be a very slick season, sartorially speaking, so I was keen to ask what pearlers from the runway made the most impact on our POPSUGAR editorial team. The actual threads may not be hitting stores until June/July, but that won't stop us from nabbing the new season looks now. Credit cards at the ready? OK, you're all set to shop the runway.

Victoria Beckham struck a pose in one of her own designs at the International Woolmark Prize final event today at the ME London hotel.

Victoria Beckham struck a pose in one of her own designs at the International Woolmark Prize final event today at the ME London hotel. It was a special evening for Victoria, one of the judges for the award that recognises up-and-coming designers from around the world. She was joined on the judging panel by Diane von Furstenberg and Donatella Versace, and Australian designer Dion Lee was in the running, though they selected Christian Wijnants as the International Woolmark Prize winner.

Victoria has kept a hectic work schedule, bouncing from one fashion week to the next. She is fresh off a stay in the Big Apple where she debuted her Fall 2013 Victoria Beckham collection with the support of husband David Beckham and daughter Harper. She also showed her lower-priced line, Victoria Victoria Beckham, before heading back home to the UK.
