The Emmy Awards are on tomorrow, and Hollywood is already getting a head start on the TV-centric bash with glamorous pre-parties. Mad Men stars Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Paré, and Harry Hamlin joined up with Modern Family's Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, and Sarah Hyland for Variety's Women in Film celebration in Hollywood last night. The fete was chock-full of nominees including Nashville's Connie Britton, Glee's Jane Lynch, and Dot-Marie Jones, and US So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley. While the stars were happy to mingle last night, they may be feeling a bit more competitive tomorrow when the Emmy Awards are underway. Be sure to come back here tomorrow for all the action as it happens!
January Jones put her new fringe on display when she attended the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Beverly Hills yesterday. She was accompanied by her Mad Men co-stars Jessica Paré, Elisabeth Moss and Kiernan Shipka to pick up their Lucy award, which celebrated all of the women's work on the hit AMC show. Other honorees included The Bling Ring director Sofia Coppola, Laura Linney, cinematographer Rachel Morrison, and George Lucas.
While women were the focus of the night, Mad Men fans have been devoting the past few weeks to trying to sift through all the mysterious Bob Benson theories. We caught up with Elisabeth at the Critics' Choice Television Awards on Monday, where she admitted that she has read up on the theories on POPSUGAR and she finds Bob "weird and mysterious." However, she wouldn't spill any new details on exactly what Bob is up to.
The third annual Critics' Choice Television Awards presented by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association were held at the Beverly Hilton in LA today to honour small screen achievements. A whole host of stars were up for honours, including Kaley Cuoco for best supporting actress in a comedy for The Big Bang Theory, which racked up six total nominations. Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus went up against Amy Poehler, Lena Dunham, Zooey Deschanel and others in the best actress in a comedy category while Elisabeth Moss earned two nods, one for Mad Men and the other for her role in the miniseries, Top of the Lake. Diane Kruger was on hand in a Nina Ricci dress and Malin Akerman make her second red carpet appearance since welcoming her son Sebastian in April. There were plenty more TV stars on hand for the awards ceremony and we were on the red carpet so stay tuned for more from the big event!
Kerry Washington joined up with a few of television's biggest stars when she attended Variety's Emmy Studio event at the Palihouse in West Hollywood yesterday. A Calvin Klein-clad Kerry met up with Elisabeth Moss, who wore a 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, Emmy Rossum, and Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany to take part in a panel for leading actresses in drama series. Hayden Panettiere also dropped by the event where she took part in a discussion with Homeland's Morena Baccarin and The Newsroom's Emily Mortimer about their roles as supporting actresses in drama series. It wasn't only about the ladies at the TV event, as Vincent Kartheiser, Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, and William H. Macy also took part in a pre-Emmys conversation of their own. On Wednesday, the event hosted Zooey Deschanel, Mindy Kaling and Busy Philipps for discussions about their hit comedies.

Mad Men's cast of leading ladies hit their season six premiere in LA — and safely covered a number of new season dress trends with their respective event looks. It's not the stuff you'll see Betty, Peggy, or Megan sporting on screen. January Jones brought a colour-blocked pastel blue Jonathan Suanders Spring '13 dress and metallic Louboutin heels to the red carpet. Elisabeth Moss sported a peplum-trimmed LBD by McQ Alexander McQueen — and a Lucite Charlotte Olympia clutch in hand — and Jessica Paré brought a gorgeous wash of colour and print on a Prabal Gurung sheath dress. For a look at all the arrivals, like Christina Hendricks in a curve-hugging L'Wren Scott A/W '12 number, keep clicking — then tell us which look gets your vote for best dressed.
Last night, the stars of Mad Men previewed the first episode of the upcoming sixth season for a VIP crowd at the Directors Guild of America's LA theatre. Jon Hamm, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss were among the cast members who turned up for the premiere, but there was more than just a new season to celebrate. Their co-stars Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel, who had an arc on the show last season, just announced they are engaged! When we caught up with Jon last evening, he told us most of the cast has known about the happy news for a while and are all glad to be able to celebrate it publicly now. Jon attended the premiere with his long-time love, Jennifer Westfeldt, and Christina was joined by her husband, Geoffrey Arend, but Vincent appeared to arrive solo to the screening.
The Mad Men cast and the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, are notoriously tight-lipped about the plot. Still, they assured us that this season of Mad Men, which premieres on April 8, is worth tuning in for. Matthew spoke to us about Jon reprising his role as a director in 2013, Jon told us how portraying Don Draper has changed his life, and Elisabeth Moss talked about what it was like to transition from her 20s to her 30s on screen.
The female characters of Mad Men all have covetable beauty looks on the show, but the ladies who play them are head-turners, too. From smoky eyes and textured waves to a swept-up ponytail from the youngest lady of the bunch, the beauty looks at the show's season premiere were as varied as the women themselves. Two major events (and a couple of smaller ones) made sure all of our favourite celebrities were on high rotation this week. At Monday's SAG Awards in LA, a bevy of Hollywood glamours stepped it up as they hurtle towards the end of the awards season. Marion Cotillard's sleek bob was perfectly coifed, as ever, and Rose Byrne knocked our socks off with a neon-meets-pastel pink lip. The night before, Jessica Alba stepped out with newly lightened locks (half of them, anyway) and a pop of candy pink on her lips. Meanwhile, here in Australia, our top actors and the like attended the AACTA Awards — but it was the hair and makeup on the red carpet that really stole the show. There's a lot to see this week, so start clicking through now!
