How-To: Create Hilary Duff's Sexy Smoky Eye Look in 4 Steps
The gorgeous Hilary Duff was in NYC yesterday to promote her first ever novel, Elixir. She matched her mass of curls with a gorgeous chocolate brown smoky eye. Nicole Thompson, MAC's Senior Makeup Artist, who was backstage painting faces at the Spring '11 shows, shares her advice on creating the gorgeously undone look . . .
STEP 1: Start with a cream base; this will help to pick up the colour of the eyeshadow and hold it on! Buff Rich Ground Cream Fluidline ($32) all over the lid, blending slightly over the crease and just underneath your eyes with a soft fluffy #217 brush ($37) to help you avoid sharp edges.
STEP 2: Use the same brush to smooth a shimmery taupe shadow, such as Satin Taupe Eye Shadow ($32), directly over the top. Don’t forget to take it underneath your eyes as well, this will really brighten the smoky look!

STEP 4: Finish with HEAPS of mascara! Do two layers on one eye, move to the next eye, then go back and repeat. When the mascara slightly dries between layers it will help to build up the product and get your lashes super thick.
