You Asked: How Do I Make My Curls Last All Night Long? They Always Seem to Fall Heaps!

Last week we helped BellaSugar reader Claire figure out where serums fit into your skincare routine and if they're necessary for everyone. This week, we're turning our attention to hair. More specifically curls, and getting them to hold. Remember, if you've got a beauty problem you need help with, we're here for you, too — just email us at mail@bellasugar.com.au. But for now, it's over to Georgia!

"My hair is super straight so I'm always trying to wear it curly. I've perfected the art of curling with my straightener, but no matter what I do, or how much hairspray I use, I can never seem to get the curls to last all night! Very annoying!!! What am I doing wrong, Bella?"

First up, props for being able to curl your hair with a hair straightener — that's no mean feat! And secondly, don't worry, there are a couple of easy tricks for getting your curls to last. Firstly, texture of any kind always holds better on day-old hair, but if you're curling freshly-washed hair, simply spray some dry shampoo through your hair or use a texturizing powder such as Evo Haze Styling Powder ($26.95). Next give each individual section you're curling a list mist of hairspray, then, and this is the most important step, once you've curled the section, keep the curl in a loop and pin it up until it cools down. Or for about 30 minutes. Then gently remove the clips and spritz with hairspray. Depending how curly you want your hair, either use your fingers to gently break up the curls or a brush (note: the brush will create a retro-style wave, so only brush out the curls if you're after a less defined curl). Then finish with some hairspray. Do all of these and this will help the curl last for longer. Hopefully that helps!
