Both hair and makeup referenced "boyish beauty" as an inspiration for the final look at By Johnny. "It's boyish beauty without being androgynous," said lead makeup artist Amber D (MAC). Think fluffly brows and a sexy glossy eye. If you're wanting to emulate the look, the important thing is to be flexible. "Gloss moves," Amber said. "It's not always going to look perfect, but that can still be beautiful too." Start with a MAC Cream Colour Base (Amber used Antique Gold for the show) which has a sheen to it but stays put. Brown mascara was used through the brows to give that boyish edge and the look was teamed with a "modern twist on a '50s boy hairstyle". Created by Melanie Boyd (Goldwell), the style once again used the braiding internally technique to flaten and quash volume. Goldwell Lagoom Jam gel was used to create the notion of "short back and sides," while the front section was crimped to create volume and texture, before being fashioned into a quiff.
