It's common knowledge that celebrities and designers go hand in hand — and when it comes to a star's special day, they tend to call on the couturiers closest to them to help craft their wedding gown. Valentino Garavani gladly designed a gown for his good friend Anne Hathaway, and John Galliano likely dropped everything to create a dress for his longtime muse Kate Moss. It's also exciting to see designers coming together for the goal of a wedding gown, like Margherita Missoni and Giambattista Valli did to develop her bohemian-chic dress in 2012. Whether it's a classic, romantic style, like Sarah Burton's hand-beaded Alexander McQueen creation for Kate Middleton, or something unexpected and adorable like the pink Giambattista Valli gown Jessica Biel said her vows in, we love breaking down the design details of some of the most stunning dresses out there. Click through to see 14 of our favourite custom-made wedding gowns, and get the story on the designers that did them.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again — we love seeing that some of our favourite models, style stars and beauty icons are friends off-camera. This week, Cara Delevingne shared a picture of herself with good friend Sienna Miller, as well as a candid snap with some equally beautiful girls you might recognise. Jesinta Campbell and her co-star Sylvia Jeffreys strutted their stuff on the sidewalk in Sydney for a stylish event, while Jessica Gomes cosied up to stunning Russian model Irina Shayk ahead of a photoshoot (wait 'til you see her nails!). And who's the new blonde in old Hollywood town?
On Aussie soil, Samara Weaving and Isabelle Cornish revealed a little more than usual for the camera, Phoebe Tonkin lent her hair to a new cause and Jen Hawkins rifled through her massive shoe closet. . . Click on to see it all!
Yesterday we all about pimping your Pinterest feeds, and today it's Instagram that's under our social media spotlight. Proving the (ever-flattering) value of a well-chosen filter, Instagram keeps us up to date with what our favourite designers, models, bloggers and editors are doing/eating/wearing and buying on a daily basis. If you don't already keep tabs on our girl crushes Yasmin Sewell and Taylor Tomasi Hill, or aren't yet acquainted with Jennifer Hawkins' too-cute pup, we suggest you take our top ten must-follow-on-Instagram list as gospel. Though we must warn you, following these fashionable peeps may result in a serious case of wardrobe/life envy.
We're sending a big congratulations out to Margherita Missoni — she's expecting her first child with husband Eugenio Amos! The 30-year-old style icon and granddaughter of the Missoni fashion house founders (she's the company's accessories director) married racing car driver Eugenio in June last year in Italy, wearing one of the most beautiful dresses we've ever laid eyes on. While there's been no confirmation of the pregnancy, sightings of her rather advanced baby bump have made the announcement for her. No doubt that is going to be one well-dressed little bub. Congratulations to Marherita and Eugenio!
The start of the year is the perfect time to make a dramatic change to your look, and freshly chopped hair could be just the thing to scratch your new year beauty itch. The bob has made a return to the celebrity hair scene and this time it's very sharp and extremely edgy. Karlie Kloss is currently rocking the right-now-bob, as is Margherita Missoni, Leighton Meester and Phoebe Tonkin; but there's been more than a few over the years that we're looking back to for new year hair-spiration.
The Elder Statesman designer Greg Chait took home the top prize at this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, winning a $300,000 cash prize and mentorship program with fashion industry leaders. Known for his luxurious handmade cashmere collections, Chait looks set for big things if previous fund winners such as Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra and Proenza Schouler are any indication. Burberry-clad Emma Stone presented the top gong alongside fashionable attendees including designer Christopher Bailey, Miranda Kerr in coral and black Giulietta, Alexa Chung and Allison Williams in cut-out Peter Som. So stylish, hurts your eyes.
It was a bigger, and scarier, week than usual this time round in celeb land, and all your fave fashion and beauty stars were involved! Superstorm Sandy dominated the East Coast of the US, including events-hub New York, right smack-bang in the midst of Halloween preparations and excitement. While that stopped some from celebrating (Heidi Klum, for example), others made sure to keep up spirits by donning their best disguises — our favourites are Emma Roberts and Margherita Missoni, who went all out. Of course, down under, Halloween isn't quite as big a deal, so we had stars like Jen Hawkins, Ruby Rose and Jesinta Campbell filling our quota for glamorous parties and events to perve on. Best of all? We didn't even need to send a photographer — the thoughtful beauties did it all themselves! Click through the gallery to see this week's roundup of the best celebrity Instagram, Facebook and Twitter photos. Happy weekend!
Leighton Meester has joined brave and brazen actresses Emma Watson, Michelle Williams and Ginnifer Goodwin — to name but a few — in cutting her hair off. The Gossip Girl beauty, once known for her long brown hair, was photographed hosting an LA magazine launch sporting a choppy bob — not dissimilar to Phoebe Tonkin's new 'do. We love a dramatic celebrity haircut, they almost make us feel brave enough to have The Chop ourselves... If you're looking for some hair inspiration to take with you to the hairdresser, click through to see our top 15 long to short celebrity haircuts over the years. Snip, snip!
It was another wild week in the world of social media, and we caught up with some of our favourite style and beauty setters during their moments of work and play. Aussie model Jessica Hart spent some quality time with her adorable little dog Floyd on set, while Miranda Kerr showed off that incredible body as she struck a pose for Victoria's Secret. Lara Bingle shared some too-cool behind-the-scenes snaps of her cover shoot for CLEO magazine and rapper Azealia Banks caught up with model Cara Delevingne (both looking decidedly mermaid-esque!). Kim Kardashian shared a pic of herself in a potential Halloween costume while Jennifer Hawkins threw a gorgeous smile our way via Instagram. There is so much more to see in this gallery — click through and catch up on all the social media action you've missed out on!
The celebrities of the fashion and beauty world had us yearning for summer this week as they taunted us with beautiful summer snaps via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Whether they were partying it up with fellow fashion icons like Christine Centenera and Kate Bosworth in Sydney, stretched out on a speedboat like Bar Refaeli, striking a pose like Miranda Kerr (for Italian Vogue, if you don't mind) or getting proposed to in one of the coolest ways ever, we couldn't get enough of keeping up with these social media-savvy stars. That's just a fraction of what we saw, though — get clicking through the gallery to see everything else that went on this week!
