Beyoncé wowed a crowd of about 18,000 people last night in LA at the Staples Center during her most recent Mrs. Carter Show tour stop — and that crowd happened to include plenty of famous fans. We spotted many celebrity couples in the boohoo VIP lounge, including Kate Mara and Max Minghella, who sipped champagne together in a corner booth, as well as Zoe Saldana, who attended with her new husband, Marco Perego, and her sister. Several stars also rolled to the show solo or with friends, including Molly Sims, Victoria Justice and Kellan Lutz, and a couple of lucky ones had the chance to attend a meet-and-greet with the star after her show. Jessica Alba met Beyoncé backstage with a group of female friends and tagged their photo #queenb #beauty.
Beyoncé's dynamic show included more than a half-dozen costume changes and a set list full of her biggest hits, including "Single Ladies" and "Baby Boy." The singer also worked in a cover, announcing to the crowd: "I dedicate this song to Paul Walker" just before launching into a rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." Beyoncé's performance landed on the eve her husband Jay Z's 44th birthday. The couple, along with their daughter, Blue Ivy, are in LA not only for her tour, but also for Jay's. He'll follow Beyoncé on the Staples stage next Monday for the LA date on his Magna Carta tour. The rapper is also reportedly thinking about new beginnings as he embarks on another year. Jay Z and Beyoncé are going vegan — at least temporarily — which he announced on his blog yesterday. Jay said a friend inspired him to try the new approach to eating and that the effort was not just physical. "There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday," he wrote, "and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas Day . . . It just feels right!"
Last night's Baby2Baby gala played host to the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jessica Alba and Nicole Richie — all in attendance to help honour mum-to-be Drew Barrymore. Baby2Baby supplies families in need with essentials for children up to age 12, and both Jessica and Nicole are board members. The theme was noticeably bright, with celebrity guests rocking everything from fuchsia pink to tangerine and cherry red. Rosie vamped it up with dark lips, while Jaime King rocked a power pony. Although we love a good side or middle part, sometimes it's easier to just forget the split altogether and go rogue. That's what three celebrities did last week, and the results were quite alluring. AnnaSophia Robb let her part-free ponytail show off her cat eye and bold lip, while Molly Sims paired hers with lush lashes and a nude lip hue. And Bella Heathcote added lots of texture to make up for her lack of part. This style is a great way to let your makeup look shine, but whose did you like best?
Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian joined up yesterday to celebrate the launch of celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson's new flagship studio in Brentwood, California. Gwyneth wore a purple Victoria Beckham dress and Michael Kors shoes as she lent her support to her longtime friend. Gwyneth spoke with us at the event and shared one of her motivation secrets for getting into workout mode. She said, "I just sob and kick and scream and then just force myself to do it." Gwyneth isn't the only fan of Tracy's intense workouts — Kim has said that she is working out with Tracy throughout her pregnancy so she can stay active and healthy. Other stars like Molly Sims and Stacy Keibler also showed their support for Tracy and her famous fitness method at the launch.
Identity Thief stars Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman attended their LA premiere at Mann Village Theatre last night. Both hit the red carpet with their spouses on their arms — Jason posed with his wife, Amanda Anka, and Melissa shared a kiss with her husband, Ben Falcone. Jason and Melissa also stayed close on the carpet, showing off their good friendship. Recently, Jason told us he specifically asked Melissa to star in Identity Thief because he was excited to work with her.
Jason and Melissa's co-stars turned out too. T.I. brought along his wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, while Genesis Rodriguez wore a floor-length Raoul green gown and Amanda Peet rocked an LBD. Molly Sims, whose husband, Scott Stuber, was one of the film's producers, smiled big for the cameras as well. The big night out, which included an after party, comes just a few days ahead of Identity Thief's US release this Friday. It comes out in Australia on April 4.
Braided hairstyles have had a huge moment in the celebrity hair department in 2012. We'll never forget Blake Lively's side, fishtail braid for a Savages premiere, and what Scarlett Johansson's cute Avengers milkmaid braid? So perfectly dishevelled. Other special braid mentions go to Lea Michele for her thick, messy side braid and Nina Dobrev's simple halo braid. Ready to zoom in on over 30? See you in there.
Reese Witherspoon, in a Miu Miu dress, was in the spotlight last night at the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies luncheon, where she was being honoured with the Grace Kelly Award for her commitment to healthy pregnancies and families. Reese had plenty of support at the event, which was hosted by Nick Cannon, including new mum Elizabeth Banks, and Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie. Megan Fox, who gave birth to son Noah in September, and her husband, Brian Austin Green, were inducted into the Stork Club for new celebrity parents and mingled with Molly Sims inside.
It was the first time Reese and Brian were at the same event since Brian jokingly thanked Reese for taking attention away from Noah's birth with the announcement of her own son, Tennessee. Amanda Peet broke from her small-screen role on The Good Wife to attend, and Alyson Hannigan was on hand as well. Reese got behind another good cause yesterday, when she posed at the Children's Defense Fund of California's annual Beat the Odds Awards. Both recent appearances came after a quick trip to NYC earlier this week.
