Perfume commercials are always trying to be provocative and sexy and the new ad for Paco Rabane Black XS certainly seems to be both, with a little glam rockness thrown in for good measure. The frenetic fragrance ad is a world away from soft, romantic and whimsical campaigns — for a start it stars Iggy Pop sensuously wrapping himself in an American flag. Then there are the models licking a jewel-encrusted skull and writhing in money. It's as if someone turned Velvet Goldmine into a perfume! Sure, there isn't a great overlap between perfumistas and '70s-rock aficionados, but it's always nice to see Iggy, and maybe now, with a perfume campaign under his belt, he can finally fulfil his beauty destiny by starting a hair line.
