Trend Alert: Sports Casual Hair
The timing of our seasons means that we’re often behind those leaders of the fashion pack – New York, London, Milan and Paris. But why not be freakishly far in front?
Take the Spring 2010 shows, while those poor Parisians et al have to wait five or six months for temperatures to rise, what’s to stop us getting ahead of ourselves and whipping out the sports casual hair in 2009? What indeed.
Roughly translated “sports casual hair” does not mean simply adding 1tbsp trackie pants to your existing style. It’s about ‘undone’ hair that’s pulled back into a bun, a pony or a braid (see Alexander Wang’s beautiful sidey ones). But the crème de la crème of sports casual chic is those stretchy headbands that you wore to Netball in Year 7.
Use the Bottega Venetta Milan Spring RTW 2010 show as your guide because it’s not as sloppy as Year 7 – it should be matched with flawless skin, a purple lip and hopefully, a bigger cleavage.
