Two Mothers Trailer: Naomi Watts and Robyn Wright Sleep With Each Other's Sons

There’s been buzz about the new Australian-French co-production Two Mothers ever since we heard of its premise: lifelong friends Lil (Naomi Watts) and Roz (Robin Wright) fall in love with each other’s teenaged sons (played by Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville).

Over the course of these affairs, a couple of issues arise, as one would imagine in a situation like this: the tension between the tight-knit group, fear of the small community finding out, and the older women wondering if their younger lovers will grow tired of them and look for girls their own age.

The first trailer for the film, directed by French director Anne Fontaine who helmed Coco Before Chanel, is mostly filled with lustful stares (the friends even say to each other how beautiful their sons are at the beach), picturesque beachside locales and lots of sex. There’s also a strong supporting Aussie cast that includes Ben Mendelsohn, Jessica Tovey and Sophie Lowe. No release date has been set yet, but you can watch the trailer after the break.

Naomi Watts joined her co-stars Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville to premiere their movie, Two Mothers, at the Sundance Film Festival yesterday. It's the first big weekend of Sundance, which officially kicked off in chilly Park City, Utah, on Friday our time. Naomi acts alongside Robin Wright in the movie, which is already causing controversy. Two Mothers is about a pair of women, played by Naomi and Robin, who have affairs with each other's teenage sons.

The independent film festival is a change of pace for Naomi, who has been wrapped up in the glamour and excitement of award season recently. She is nominated for an Oscar for her role in The Impossible and she turned heads with her sexy Golden Globe gown details. We're on the scene at Sundance, so keep checking back for all the excitement!

Exclusive Bait 3D Clip: Xavier Samuel Knows Something Is Wrong

When you’ve spent your life in a sleepy beachside town, nothing shakes up your schedule quite like a tsunami that tears its way through the streets and leaves you trapped in an underground supermarket — with some unwanted guests.

When you’ve spent your life in a sleepy beachside town, nothing shakes up your schedule quite like a tsunami that tears its way through the streets and leaves you trapped in an underground supermarket — with some unwanted guests. That’s what happens in the new Australian thriller Bait 3D, and we have an exclusive clip from early in the movie in which Josh (Xavier Samuel) senses something fishy is going to happen. You can watch Xavier, along with an all-star Australian cast that includes Sharni Vinson, Phoebe Tonkin, Lincoln Lewis and Alex Russell, when Bait 3D opens on Thursday, Sep. 20.

Bait 3D Trailer: Beware the Sharks in the Supermarket

One of the reasons we’re excited to see Bait 3D is because it boasts a fantastic young Australian cast who are making a splash (pun unintended) internationally, including Xavier Samuel, Sharni Vinson, Phoebe Tonkin and Alex Russell.

One of the reasons we’re excited to see Bait 3D is because it boasts a fantastic young Australian cast who are making a splash (pun unintended) internationally, including Xavier Samuel, Sharni Vinson, Phoebe Tonkin and Alex Russell. Home-grown favourite Lincoln Lewis also stars. Xavier and Sharni play a former couple who see each other for the first time in a supermarket a year after their break-up. Then a dramatic turn of events takes place: a robbery and a tsunami, and before we know it the underground supermarket is flooding. Oh, and with the water come a couple of great white sharks.

It seems like Bait 3D has all the key ingredients for a scream-filled flick: hot cast, suspense, action, violence, gore . . . At the moment I’m still wondering how the robbery comes into play and how much more we’ll see of Xavier and Sharni’s relationship, because most of the preview is about the sharks. It comes out Sep. 6 and you can check out the trailer when you keep reading.

Some lucky fans, media and Australian celebrities were treated to a special, exclusive screening of Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol at the IMAX in Darling Harbour yesterday (see some footage from the event here). While the film’s leading man, Tom Cruise, kick started his promotional efforts in Japan, director Brad Bird and star Simon Pegg made the trip Down Under to talk up the latest instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. In front of a packed cinema, they introduced the movie and said we were among the first to see it, as the world premiere only takes place in Dubai later this week. Brad said he was excited to see the completed project on the world’s largest screen — parts of the film were shot in IMAX — and then he made his way to a seat in the top row to watch with everyone else. Simon tweeted after the screening, “Cheers to everyone that came along to the M:IGP screening at the IMAX, Sydney. What a night, my pulse is still racin' and I'm IN the mofo.” Some of the stars who turned out for the action blockbuster include Xavier Samuel and Alyssa McClelland. On Wednesday night a soirée was held for the opening of the new Gucci Flagship store in Westfield Sydney, attracting a group of stylish celebrities dressed in their cocktail best. Lara Bingle broke from her usual monochrome wardrobe and donned a bright turquoise frock for the occasion, while Jodhi Meares and April Rose Pengilly kept things sexy and party-appropriate in their different black dresses. It wasn’t only the ladies who got in on the Gucci action, though — Crownies star Todd Lasance hung out with his co-star Ella Scott Lynch and rising talent Bella Heathcote, and Xavier Samuel also suited up for the event. To celebrate the store’s opening, Gucci has created a limited edition collection of Australian-themed accessories, with a percentage of the sales benefitting the Australian Childhood Foundation.

A little rain didn’t stop some of Australia’s most talented stars making their way to Luna Park for the 2011 Jameson IF Awards last night. The green carpet for arrivals was thankfully moved indoors, giving actors a chance to take their time as they spoke to media on the way to the awards show. Comedian Julia Morris hosted the green carpet, where she met up with Celebrity Apprentice Australia co-stars Didier Cohen and Max Markson; Didier told us that he was going to try and keep up with the night’s tweets as best he could! Up and coming Great Gatsby stars Elizabeth Debicki and Callan McAuliffe attended their first IF Awards and talked to us about their experiences working on the movie so far. Callan brought along his good friend Ariel Winter to the event; the Modern Family actress is currently enjoying a two-week break in Sydney and said she feels lucky to have Callan to show her around.

The Slap’s Sophie Lowe took a bright and colourful approach with her look, while several actresses, like Anna McGahan and Jessica Tovey, stepped out in frocks from the mullet dress trend. The cutest guest of the evening was Koko, canine star of the night’s big winner Red Dog, while the talented casts of top TV shows like Underbelly: Razor, Packed to the Rafters and Home and Away were out in force to celebrate a great night of Australian film.
