Cate Blanchett’s stellar career in the film industry was put in focus at the New York Film Festival on Wednesday, when a gala tribute event was held in her honour. The actress participated in a Q&A event, where she called her role in Blue Jasmine as a socialite who goes through a nervous breakdown her favourite because it was the “culmination of my work on the theatre and my work in the film,” received a video accolade from filmmaker Woody Allen, and watched a look back at her movies.
Cate’s not the only star at the New York Film Festival, which has attracted Hollywood favourites like Tom Hanks, Naomi Watts and Carey Mulligan. Tom’s film Captain Phillips opened the festival last Friday, while Carey, who’s back to being a brunette, and her husband Marcus Mumford made appearances for Inside Llewyn Davis — Carey stars and Marcus serves as an associate music producer on the film.
