If there's a lady in your life — whether it be your bestie, boss, mum or nan — who's very well-kept, neat and chic; chances are she's a bit of a classicist when it comes to makeup. She'll more than likely stick to a brand's hero products, and she probably has a very good idea of what she likes in terms of finish, texture, pigment and scent. So. What to buy her for Christmas? We've got 10 fail safe ideas, and we know she'll use all of them. Want more Christmas present ideas? See our other gift guides!
Bright lips! Highlighter! Shimmery shadows! There were so many lovely looks this week, it was hard to narrow down a Top 10, let alone zero in on one little beauty factor. From Jennifer Lopez and her gorgeous glow and deep pink lip, to Amber Heard and those eyes, we kind of had our hair and makeup socks knocked right off — repeatedly. One Aussie actress looked exactly like a doll, so perfect was her look — the big baby blues don't hurt! — and here, we'll show you how to recreate some of it. There were other Aussies, too, at yesterday's Derby Day, who'll inspire you to try something new. You'll read how to highlight them cheekbones of yours (à la Emily Blunt), how to widen and brighten your eyes, and a whole lot more! Click through to gallery to discover the latest in celebrity beauty.
When the people we're watching are models, celebrities and performers, we're often faced with gorgeous look after gorgeous look. But this week was a whole new ball game — with model-studded events, celebrity outings and parties coming up to our ears, we had so many beautiful looks to choose from we almost gave up! Don't worry, we pulled through — and in this gallery are the Top 10 most delicious, divine and downright stunning looks we saw on our favourite famous people this week. Lara Bingle leads with the way with her perfect skin, sexy red lip and that ear cuff, fans of The Hills will be stoked to see Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port reunited once more (at least, in this gallery!) and Olivia Palermo nearly blinded us with those shiny, shiny locks of hers. We haven't even mentioned the models yet! Get clicking, and you'll find our favourite looks, plus details on exactly how to achieve them. Enjoy!
The seemingly impossible is possible: you can curl your hair with a hair straightener. It's a simple technique and with a little practice, you'll be able to create soft curls with ease. It's a great look for the Spring racing season either paired with a fascinator or a hair accessory, and, once you master it, creating curls will only take minutes.
We love a bit of behind-the-scenes action here at Bella, and that's why when we spotted these pictures of Heidi Klum filming a commercial, we just had to share! The model mum was showcasing Schwarzkopf's Taft Hair Spray ($4.30) in New York City, and even got splashed with water from a passing taxi to prove the product is the real deal. Having been introduced in France in 1987, The Product of the Year Awards are now in their third year in Australia. With an aim of giving consumers the option to vote for the everyday products that not only work, but save time and money, the winners of the 2012 Product of the Year Awards have just been announced by ambassador Lisa Wilkinson and the judging panel. The awards focus on everything from household appliances to pest control, but it's the 10 beauty categories that we're interested in. With over 7,000 Australians voting in the awards, it's a great way to suss out which hair colour, shampoo, razor and body lotion is worth buying next!
With Derby Day happening next Saturday and Melbourne Cup just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about the beauty essentials that should make it into your clutch for the big day. It was a trend that dominated the 2011 Spring shows and when we saw it rule the runways again at New York Fashion Week, we knew the sleek 'n slick look is one style to keep in our beauty arsenal and bust out again and again. We saw it at Marchesa and Carolina Hererra in a side part and pulled back, and so you can recreate the look at home, we did some research into the best strong hold hairsprays. Check out our top ten to provide your locks with maximum hold, keeping your wet-look 'do in tip-top shape.
Dang, Leighton Meester has good hair. It's not surprising that she got snapped up by a hair brand. But what we loved is that she used it anyway. Before she 'had' to. LOVE that shiz. We spotted these shots of her at a Herbal Essences photocall in Spain yesterday and had to share. Those big bouncy bottom curls mixed with that espresso smoky eye. That tonged tousle and brilliant bounce is signature Meester and always seemed a little out of reach for those of us who didn't have Charles Baker Strahan (her stylist) on speed dial. But not anymore thanks to the just-launched Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Range. I am a mad fan of Herbal Essences. Or 'Erbal Essences as Leighton calls it. Cute. And unlike the other ranges, this one's all about the styling. Sure there's the Tousle Me Softly Shampoo & Conditioner ($5.99) — infused with wild violet and pomegrante; yum — but there's also a Spray Gel, Mousse and Hairspray which are all just $6.99 each. Bargain. Now you really CAN have Leighton's hair.
There's one thing you can't accuse Ke$ha of, and that's following the crowd. The "Tik Tok" singer showed up to Thursday night's Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood party wearing the longest, most gelled-up fauxhawk I've ever seen. If nothing else, we found out that she doesn't have hair extensions. Huh. Who knew? Paired with graphic eyeliner and a nose ring, it was very Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner, and we wanna know what product she used, because whatever it is has some mah-jor hold. How do you feel about this hair engineering: unique or la freak?
