It's been a bumper week of tweets this time around, with so much action taking place online it was hard to keep up! Miley Cyrus made it clear that she does what she wants (on Twitter, anyhow!), while Mindy Kaling's dad sounds just as cool as the funny star herself. Frank Ocean continued his quest to become the king of quotes — in 100 years time, people will still be proclaiming his clever observations. Amanda Bynes stayed true to form with her insults, Jesinta Campbell reaffirmed her nice-girl status and Joel Madden and Karl Stefanovic had something to say about Seal. There's plenty more, too — click through to catch up on all the action in the celebrity Twittersphere this week.
Taylor Swift has no shortage of celebrity gal pals — from her long-time relationships with Selena Gomez and Emma Stone to newfound companions like Lena Dunham and Dianna Agron, Taylor's roster of famous friends reads like a who's who of hot young stars. She spent Memorial Day with Hailee Steinfeld and Jessica Szohr at her home in Rhode Island and offered support to Kristen Stewart after the actress' recent breakup with Robert Pattinson. We're tallying up the singer's high-profile friendships and leaving the verdict up to you: is Taylor Swift the ultimate celebrity BFF?
This week, we've been privy to a whole host of interesting topics as celebrities like Larry Emdur, Katy Perry, Jaime King, Alexa Chung, Lena Dunham, Taylor Swift, Dave Hughes and many more took to Twitter to express their thoughts. Larry was kicked out of the bathroom for a certain star at The Great Gatsby premiere in Sydney, while Katy Perry had a bit of fun with friend Taylor Swift's song lyrics. And how do we know that Katy and Taylor are still close? Taylor tweeted a message directly at Katy that was too lovely not to share. And it's a relief to see that no one, not even model and TV host Alexa Chung, is immune from slow download times. Lena Dunham received a Medal of Distinction from Barnard College in NYC yesterday. She accepted the award alongside two other important individuals: Elizabeth Diller, the architect for the Big Apple's famed High Line, and Jimmie Briggs, a journalist and human rights activist. Lena tweeted her excitement about the event, writing, "I'm a guest at Barnard College graduation today. At my own graduation I sobbed, hit my mother and fell asleep, so pretty psyched for a redo." Afterward, Lena accompanied her boyfriend, Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, to the studio to watch him record a track and Instagrammed the adventure, writing, "Take your girlfriend to work night."
There was plenty to keep our favourite celebrities talking this week. Not least of all, the Met Gala on Tuesday. . . Or more specifically, Gwyneth Paltrow's opinion on the high-society event, and singer Pink's reaction! This week has also seen a few announcements: Tom Cruise had some big news for fans of Mission Impossible, while Elizabeth Banks was mighty unimpressed about the cancellation of a certain show. No happy endings for her! Rebel Wilson and Lea Michele had more to celebrate — see why in here — Lara Bingle took a stand on the gay marriage debate and Lena Dunham reminded us that she's one very cool lady. Lena Dunham got cosy with her co-star Adam Driver while they filmed a scene for the third season of Girls in NYC. Adam tickled Lena and she returned the love by pecking him on the cheek after they also showed PDA on set during filming last week in Brooklyn. The other Girls cast members have been hard at work on the new season as well. Lena shot scenes with Allison Williams last week while wearing colourful frocks and a "birthday b*tch" hat, perhaps a nod to a special celebration in an upcoming episode.
In addition to working on the series, Lena's been busy mixing in with New York's glittering party scene, attending the Time 100 Gala last week and presenting at the 2013 Actors Fund's annual gala on Monday. She's also apparently searching for a new home and checked out a $4.45 million penthouse in Brooklyn over the weekend.
The annual Time 100 Gala inspired another round of red carpet glamour yesterday, with Jessica Biel and Olivia Munn leading the star-studded pack. And what better occasion to dress to the nines than in honour of some of the world's most influential people? With Biel in black, head-to-toe Tom Ford, Munn in bright canary-yellow Michael Kors, and Claire Danes in a more exotic Lanvin look, the night played host to a spectrum of black-tie ensembles. Lena Dunham wore a shimmery number from Saint Laurent's much-discussed Saint Laurent Autumn/Winter '13 collection and Christina Aguilera went the siren route in formfitting Victoria Beckham. To get all the details on who wore what at last night's party, keep clicking.
A slew of celebrities, politicians, entrepreneurs and media personalities came together at the Lincoln Center in NYC today for the Time 100 Gala. Though not all 100 people who made the magazine’s iconic Most Influential List could attend the event, there was no shortage of big names dressed up to celebrate the night. Justin Timberlake whispered something to his wife Jessica Biel on the red carpet, while Lena Dunham made the rounds during her arrival, linking up with Christina Aguilera and Miguel, and planting a kiss on Claire Danes. A suited-up Frank Ocean, who has been announced as part of the 2013 Splendour in the Grass line-up, brought his mother, Katonya Breaux Riley, as his date, and Olivia Munn attended on the arm of designer Michael Kors.
