Watch Out Sammy, That Chewing Gum May Give You Wrinkles

Much has been made of Sam "I'm just a brickie from Perth" Worthington chewing gum while presenting next to Jennifer Lopez but he's got more to worry about than getting slammed by the press. Cosmetic surgeons are now saying that chewing gum is the latest thing to cause wrinkles. US-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Hema Sundaram believes that “chewing gum promotes muscle over-activity and potentially breaks down support tissue within the skin, contributing to volume loss and perhaps loss of skin elasticity.” Maybe that's Sam's Grand Master Plan, though? Wrinkles + Payless shoes = totally unpretentious guy, no?

What Is It About Kristen Stewart?

That's the question I've been asking myself recently. Because, in your eyes, Kristen Stewart’s the best thing since sliced bread.

I get it. I mean, Twilight, right. I've seen the movie. I've wanted to be Bella. (The other one.) But is her overwhelming popularity simply a by-product of us struggling to separate Miss Swan from Miss Stewart? Or is it a whole lot more?

On paper she's a young, attractive actress who has the world at her feet. She's part of the biggest franchise since Harry Potter; she's dating the world's most-lusted after man; designers are vying to dress her; makeup gurus are on-hand to primp her; yet still she's kept herself to herself, seemingly awkward with the spotlight shining so brightly on her.

Here you have a girl who wears Cons to an awards show, who has no issue with sporting a mullet, who has become the poster girl for pale. So is that it? Is it her refusal to bow down to Hollywood pressure, to be like everyone else, to be predictable; is this what makes us love her? You tell me, what is it about Kristen Stewart...

Which of Karl Lagerfeld's PFW Looks Gets Your Vote?

I really don't know how Karl Lagerfeld does it. As well as being Creative Director for both Chanel and Fendi, he has his own label and he's a photographer. Not to mention an A-list bestie. Lindsay Lohan, Alexa Chung, Vanessa Paradis and Beth Ditto showed up to his Paris shows. The Karl Lagerfeld collection, which debuted first, featured giant, teased up 'dos, crafted in the style of Brigitte Bardot (again?), pvc-style headbands and Fab's favourite lip shade, MAC Lady Danger, which was given a glossy finish with Clear Lipglass. Chanel A/W '10 also featured high-drama hair, but it was styled into a mushroom shape. Against the glacial backdrop, the models' dark eyes captured your attention. The Chanel smoky eye featured smudged, almost haphazard application of black/grey shadows that were extended up and out towards the brow bone and temple and liner in adjacent angles of the eye. It certainly looked eerily stunning. Which look do you prefer: Karl Lagereld or Chanel?

Love It or Hate It: Kristen Dunst Shows Off Some Wow Brows

V Magazine is probably my most favourite mag. The images. Sigh. They're always beautiful. Without fail. And slightly left of the middle too. I'm loving issue #64 which features Kristen Dunst as cover-girl, sporting some interesting brow work. The top of her eyebrows have been darkly lined and extended out towards her temple, with the arch accentuated and shaded in with a dark blonde towards the eye socket. I love the look on her. Some serious false lashes and a glossy pink lip wrap it up nicely, while I simply cannot get over the startling resemblance to Mae West in this black and white shot. LOVE. Those cheekbones would cut ice. You like?

TMI Alert: Florida Woman Shaves Her Bikini Line While Driving

Oh no. Wait for it. When Megan Barnes made the insane decision to tidy up her lady garden while driving A CAR, her ex-husband took the wheel. From the passenger seat. As you do. (Not.) When police asked her WTF she was thinking (in a much more polite way), she told officers that "she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit." Of course you did, honey. Have you heard of a bathroom? So as well as driving on a suspended licence and being charged with DUI the day before, Megan can add illegal landscaping to the list. Winner. Don't even get me started on the ex-husband-boyfriend saga. Only in America.

(Ps. No one was hurt, thank goodness.)

2010 A/W Paris Week Trend Alert: Turn Around Bright Eyes

Hot on the heels of Christian Dior's gorgeous orange and pink eyes, YSL and Givenchy cemented the statement eyeshadow trend that is sweeping Paris Fashion Week. YSL sent models down the runway with pink extended up to the brow bone, while over at Givenchy, makeup extraordinaire Pat McGrath matched the eyes to the red lip. The no-brow brow look was back, leaving all the attention on the coral-red eye. Which means ladies, that it's time to bust out your red, orange and pinks and create a little eye-catching attention of your own, no?

SUGAR LAB: Olay Professional Pro-X Starter Protocol, Trial Part 2

AGE: 46 (the doorstep to 50)

SKIN PROFILE: Oily T-zone with under-eye dryness; pores you could drive a truck through; over-exercised frown and laugh lines; skin discolouration

THE WAKE-UP CALL: When I turned 40, I was greeted with what I now refer to as the “perfect storm”. Sounds dramatic; however, for me, all wasn’t 40 and fabulous. My invincible 20s and 30s left me a bit worse for wear: knees and spine shot from aerobicising like a springbok, sun-spot clusters on my nose, temples and cheeks from aerobicising too much in the great outdoors like a springbok, and facial tea-staining and loss of skin elasticity courtesy of extreme hormone fluctuations (successive IVF cycles) in the wake of my maternal instincts colliding with my biological clock.

The days of profoundly basic skincare (water, washcloth and swipe of moisturiser)-and doing absolutely anything with abandon-were well and truly over for me.

FACING FACTS: Aware that I need some hi-tech ammo to support my youth rally, I proactively seek out news, info and innovations designed to help me slather, slop, sip and swallow my way younger. And as part of Team Sugar, I am first to volunteer for such missions. Though Pop and I wrestle for some of these assignments, as the elder on Team Sugar, I pull the ole “Age needs Beauty” often.
