We are less 24 hours — a 24 hours people — away from the 83rd Academy Awards. As usual, we shall be here bright and early on Monday morning, ready and raring to go, bringing you the most up-to-the-minute awards coverage, so don't you dare go anywhere else, K? But for now, we've got a lil' time on our hands to sit back, relax, and reminisce about years gone by. Before we start predicting what the nominees will wear, let's take a look at our favourite Noughties Oscar looks. And yes, first place still most definitely goes to Michelle Williams in 2006. Ah-maz-ing.
Counting down the days until the Academy Awards? Us too, us too. As always we'll be bringing you all the glitz and glamour from the red carpet on Monday morning, but if you can't wait until then, check out our Top 10 Beauties from last year or the best looks of the Noughties. Still to come are the worst looks ever, and if you're wondering just how long it takes a celeb to get ready for the Oscars, we spoke to the man who knows: head of the makeup department for the Academy Awards LIVE telecast. Check out what he had to say. Now, have a quick squiz through these lovely looks from last year and tell us, do you agree with our picks, or did someone else top your list? Who are you most excited for this year?
You know I'm a fan of the charity work that Victoria Beckham does on behalf of all the short-haired ladies worldwide—showing mere mortals how versatile short styles can actually be. And while this look isn't exactly new (in fact it's a dead ringer for her Oscar's hairstyle), it's still worthy of noting for its fabulousness. I do love a bit of a tease when it comes to up 'dos—it saves them looking all dated and harsh; but I'm not a fan of the chav-tastic (Bogan-esque) front strands. Euch. Mrs B has been rocking a smoky eye for quite some time now, so it's no surprise that she showed up to her Moscow store opening with da-dah, a smoky eye, but I'd prefer to see a red lip, wouldn't you? What say you: winner or sinner?
Another week, another highly entertaining Pop Quiz! Have you been paying attention to this week's hottest goss? Hmmm, we’ll see...
Much has been made of Sam "I'm just a brickie from Perth" Worthington chewing gum while presenting next to Jennifer Lopez but he's got more to worry about than getting slammed by the press. Cosmetic surgeons are now saying that chewing gum is the latest thing to cause wrinkles. US-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Hema Sundaram believes that “chewing gum promotes muscle over-activity and potentially breaks down support tissue within the skin, contributing to volume loss and perhaps loss of skin elasticity.” Maybe that's Sam's Grand Master Plan, though? Wrinkles + Payless shoes = totally unpretentious guy, no?
Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams filmed a backstage interview for an Oprah special after presenting together at Monday's Oscars. Jake carried Rachel's clutch like a gentleman, as they joked about tripping each other. Jake was apparently even playfully introducing her as "the mother of my child" to friends. The Internet has been buzzing about how cute they would be as a couple just based on a few minutes of airtime. So what do you think, would Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams make the ideal couple or is everyone totally dreaming?
Sam Worthington was the only high profile Aussie attending the Oscars and now he’s copped a bashing for chewing gum while presenting an Academy Award. The Avatar star and Jennifer Lopez took to the stage to present the award for Best Original Score. Jennifer had on a gorgeous Armani Privé gown, while Sam rocked up wearing $20 Payless Shoes and a “kickarse suit.” While Jen was rattling off the nominees, Sam was chomping away like a cow in the paddock and now he's been slammed in the press. But what do you think? Is chewing gum at the Oscars REALLY such a big deal?
When my birthday swings around next month I shall not be asking for money, jewels or designer fragrance. I'll solely be requesting that I am magically transformed into Diane Kruger. Every friggin' time the girl gets it right. It'd bore me if it didn't amaze me so. Unlike our other starlets, I would take (and will be taking) all three of these styles and making them my own. Pronto. From the glamorous vintage roll to her unique take on up styles, Diane just keeps on giving and giving. And I know you might be feeling all Oscar-ed out, but before we put the Oscars to bed for another year, let us try to pick a favourite of these three lustrous looks . . .
Kate Winslet's being quite the darling of 2010 Awards season so far, turning up to all four of the major events (L-R: the Globes, the SAGs, the BAFTAs and the Oscars). And while I loved her BAFTAs curls, there is simply no getting away from how awesome she looked at yesterday's Oscars. She could've actually passed for an Old Hollywood screen siren, don't you think? Absolute stunning. Is it your best look? Or not?
Three different awards ceremonies (L-R: the Globes, the SAGs, the Oscars), three different looks. While I could take or leave Sandy's SAGs 'do (and dress), I fell head over heels for her Golden Globes curly up-and-to-the-style style and could not get over how shiny her strands were at yesterday's Oscars ceremony. Which is your favourite look?
