Taylor, Carrie, Sheryl and Hayden Meet John Mayer's Ab Situation at the CMT Awards!

Blond hair ruled on the red carpet at last night's CMT Music Awards in Nashville. Taylor Swift mixed things up with a slightly edgier look than we're used to from her, straightening out those trademark curls. Carrie Underwood stood out in pink as both country princesses headed in to see what would come of their three nominations apiece. Brand-new mum of two, Sheryl Crow displayed her rocking legs. Faith Hill was glamorous as ever, while Hayden Panettiere showed some skin in her lacy cutout dress. Kid Rock played host for the award show and kept things light with a Kanye West joke to kick things off. Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood were the big winners - check out the entire list here. Keith gave a heartfelt thank you to his wife Nicole Kidman, who skipped the red carpet but was supporting him all night long from her seat. Carrie planted a kiss on her fiancé Mike Fisher and later made a speech that included an emphatic "Awesome fans! Awesome, awesome, amazing, awesome, awesome!" Keith also performed with John Mayer, for which the guys spent the day practicing. Mayer's mystery illness didn't slow down his sense of humour as he flashed his abs to compare with Jersey Shore's The Situation,who was of course there with a few of his castmates. Carrie and Brad Paisley were among the evening's other musical acts as the country world gathered together to celebrate their genre and Nashville in the wake of the city's recent tragic flood.

John Mayer and Keith Urban Practice For Their CMT Duet

Here's a bit of a midweek perv courtesy of John Mayer and Keith Urban, who got together for a soundcheck before today's CMT Music Awards in Nashville. The guys also teamed up a few months ago to record a Crossroads concert that will air in the US next week. John looked like he was back to his healthy self after cancelling the last leg of his European tour due to a mystery illness. Kid Rock will host today's event and he's in Tennessee after a stay in LA for Saturday's Spike TV Guys Choice Awards. While he, John and Keith hold things down for the guys, the show will also include a performance from Carrie Underwood. While, John's former rumoured love interest, Taylor Swift, isn't scheduled to sing.

The other famous Carrie stepped out for the CMT Music Awards in a hot pink dress opting to keep her hair and makeup fairly simple. She worked a side-parted textured ponytail that was teased at the roots to add a bit of volume and finished off the look by wrapping a strand of hair around the elastic. I like it, it's a style that we're seeing on heaps of celebs at the moment: Vanessa Hudgens, Kristen Stewart, Nicole Richie . . . it's casual-glam and so easy to style yourself. Just work in a texturising product like Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 ($36.95) or KMS Hairplay Texture Blast ($36.95). Carrie's brown smoky eye was rimmed in gold, which brightened the lash-laden look. She finished with pale gloss. Like it?

Ay, ay, ay, Hayden. Is this really a wise hairstyle? It's already drawing unflattering comparisons to former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin. Nice. I just don't understand. You'd already had the bad bangs, the disaster of going red and then you cropped off your lovely long blonde hair. Admittedly I wasn't a fan at first, you didn't quite reach the top of the crops, but I have to say that the pouffy style was way, way better than this slicked-down number. And another thing, I don't know if it's the styling products or your highlights, but there seem to be some seriously dodge yellow strands here and there. The makeup was fairly simple and stylish: lots of false lashes, kohl and peach gloss. What do you think of it all?

Taylor Swift is living up to her title as owner of the World's Sexiest Hair, dontcha think? We all know that I've had my beef with Taylz's hair in the past, but check it: it's sexy, sleek and straiiiight. Though the colour's a little mousy, it looks smokin' all sexily draped over one shoulder. Ever since I saw Taylor + ghd + fringe + texture in ELLE I thought she was onto a winning formula. And every time she walked the red carpet, I'd think, this is it, time to see it again and then she'd go and bust out another ringleted up 'do. Sigh. Broke my little heart it did. Cut me right up. Today I'm missing the edge, the sass, but it's straight so I'm going to shut my pie hole and be happy. Makeup-wise she went signature Swift: sparkly silver and gold shadow, worked into a smokier edge, bundles of falsies and a light pink gloss. You like?
