Brad Pitt's The Tree of Life Wins Palme d'Or at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival has come to a close following a glamorous, sometimes-controversial 12 days of celebrating film.

The Cannes Film Festival has come to a close following a glamorous, sometimes-controversial 12 days of celebrating film. The closing ceremony was held on Sunday in the French town when the jury announced the winners of the Palme d’Or and top acting honours. Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life, which was received with a mix of cheers and boos at the screening, and stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain, won the Palme d’Or, though Brad and his co-stars weren’t on hand to accept the award. Kirsten Dunst won the best actress award for her role in Lars von Trier’s Melancholia. “Wow, what a week it’s been,” she said during her speech in reference to the Danish director’s comments about Hitler (he was subsequently banned from the festival). She continued, “This is an honour that’s once in a lifetime. Thank you to the Cannes Film Festival for allowing the film to still be in competition.”

Kirsten Dunst's Cannes Farewell Frock: From All Angles

Kirsten Dunst may have just outdone herself, showing up to the Cannes Film Festival closing party in this ethereal Chanel haute couture dress.
See Kirsten Dunst's Chane Haute Couture Frock at Cannes Closing Ceremoy From All The Angles!

Kirsten Dunst may have just outdone herself, showing up to the Cannes Film Festival closing party in this ethereal Chanel haute couture dress. Kiki has shown some stellar styles over the festival, including that flirty marigold Chloé dress and an angelic Chanel lace gown, but we think this final look from her wins hands down. The high shine bustier adds major bling to the delicately ruched tulle skirt, tied together with a bejewelled brooch. Take a good look at Ms Dunst's get-up, from all angles.

Claudia vs. Anja: Which Model Wins Best Peekaboo Award?

We're kicking off Monday morning with a fashionable wrap up of the red carpet action at the Cannes Film Festival, starting with the premiere of This Must Be The Place.

We're kicking off Monday morning with a fashionable wrap up of the red carpet action at the Cannes Film Festival, starting with the premiere of This Must Be The Place. Legendary catwalker Claudia Schiffer and runway stunner Anja Rubik went head-to-head on the red carpet, both clad in sexy black gowns — and both little left to the imagination. Claudia sported a lace bustier Dolce & Gabbana gown, accessorizing with layered diamond necklaces and a pair of pointy toed black pumps. Anja's dress may have been full-length and long-sleeved, but it wasn't exactly modest! Her very popular perforated frock showed enough skin to stay sexy, despite covering her head to toe. Both models looked gorgeous — but who did black peekaboo best?

From sleek to soft and feminine, celeb beauties definitely brought their A-game when it came to their hair looks. Models Bar Refaeli and Karolina Kurkova were proof that the high ponytail won't be disappearing from our radar any time soon, both opting for the foolproof style on the red carpet. We also can't forget our personal fave, the braid, with Diane Kruger and Kirsten Dunst choosing different variations of the popular trend. Check out our favourite Cannes hair looks — which 'do won your top spot?

The pint-sized actress rarely puts a foot wrong, and the white Chanel Haute Couture dress she donned for the CW network's Upfront at Jazz shindig in NYC was no exception. She's just one celeb to make our top ten this week, joining the ranks of Cannes style queens Milla Jovovich and Kirsten Dunst, who kept serving up the fashionable goods. Step inside and decide who was your top pick!

10 of the Best Black and White Looks from Cannes

One trend we couldn't help but notice on the red rug from the Cannes Film Festival was black and white.

One trend we couldn't help but notice on the red rug from the Cannes Film Festival was black and white. Whilst this combo might seem like a sometimes safe option, these monochrome ensembles were anything but boring. It was a light versus dark style off, with Elizabeth Olsen and Rachel McAdams both opting for pretty LWDs for their photocall duties, whilst ladies-in-noir Karolina Kurkova floored us in that cut-out suede Emilio Pucci and Gwen Stefani impressed in her disco-chic jumpsuit. Doing a classic menswear interpretation of monochrome, Eve Herzigova added bright red ankle-strap platforms to spice up the look. Trés chic!
