We're wrapping up our coverage of New York A/W 2012 Bridal Fashion Week with some of the most femme wedding dresses we've ever since. Marchesa's bridal offerings were as gob-smackingly gorgeous as you'd expect, but there were some pleasant surprises from Douglas Hannant and Christos too. Lace-edged tiers of tulle, intricate embellishment and layers of duchess satin are sure to entice even the fussiest of of brides-to-be. Don't have a rock on that finger? Don't worry 'bout it! This batch of wedding gowns are still delicious to peruse, groom or no groom.
With the white dress fever we've contracted since A/W '12 Bridal Fashion Week started in New York, we thought it was high time we checked out what our local designers had to offer in the way of down-the-aisle wear too. Lisa Ho's less-is-more aesthetic translates beautifully to her bridal line, with a range of sophisticated dresses that would please the fussiest of brides. LH's calling card is elegance, and we think her current collection of mother of the bride, bridesmaid and wedding dresses hits all the right notes — with not a meringue in sight.
Whether your man is about to pop the question and you're looking for a little ring-spiration for something different than the traditional engagement rock, or you loved Kate Middleton's sapphire sparkler, then boy do we have a lineup for you. We've uncovered our top ten engagement rings with brightly coloured stones including emeralds, luxe sapphires in pink, blue and black, and bands peppered with diamonds. Walk this way for a look-see at rings from the likes of Tiffany & Co, Cerrone and more . . .
2012 Autumn/Winter Bridal Fashion Week kicked off in New York yesterday and, as usual, we've been floored by the plethora of gorgeous gowns on offer from the big-hitting design houses. Bridal queen Vera Wang surprised everyone with her caramel and black gowns, Oscar de le Renta went for quality not quantity with his tightly edited seven piece Spring collection and Carolina Herrera delivered more of her signature elegance. Even if you're not on the hunt for the dress, our best-of-the-beautiful-bunch edit is still worth a look — for daydreaming if nothing else! Step inside and start drooling.
Nikki Reed has reason to celebrate: she got married to Paul McDonald on Sunday! The Twilight actress shared her excitement with Us Weekly, saying, “We couldn’t be happier! [We were] surrounded by family and friends. We’re so glad this day has come!” They exchanged “I do’s” at a private ranch in Malibu in the presence of 100 guests, but no word yet on whether any of Nikki’s Twilight co-stars were in attendance. Nikki and Paul announced that they were engaged in June after two months of dating; Paul is a musician and placed eighth on American Idol earlier this year. Nikki will be involved in another wedding soon — the onscreen kind, when Breaking Dawn hits cinemas in November and fans get to witness Edward and Bella’s nuptials. Congrats to Nikki and Paul!
Tonight’s the night! Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries may have gotten married over a month ago, but the big event is only screening in Australia tonight and tomorrow. The grand Kardashian-Humphries wedding was turned into a four-hour TV event, and tonight’s episode focuses on the stressful lead up to the big day. With the wedding fast approaching, Kim’s mum Kris Jenner is forced to move up her plastic surgery, while her sister’s Khloé and Kourtney have concerns about their future brother-in-law. There’s also drama with the gift registry. If we know anything about the Kardashians, it’s that nothing is ever simple. Will you be tuning in to part one of the extravaganza?
Kim’s Fairytale Wedding Part 1 airs tonight at 8:30 p.m. on E!
Although we already know Kim Kardashian had a fairy tale wedding, there's no denying we're looking forward to tuning into the E! Entertainment channel tonight and tomorrow night to watch four hours of her wedding preparation and festivities. The one thing we are most excited about, though, is checking out her beauty look up close, including her traditional, princess-like tiara. Kim opted for a dripping-with-diamonds wraparound headpiece, with a long veil accentuating her voluminous chignon. While she stayed true to her signature makeup palette of smoky eyes, glossy lips and flushed cheeks, this circlet-style hair accessory added a distinctive style. Because it's a bit different from the usual crystal combs and clips, don't be surprised if you see the diamond-drop style coveted by many brides-to-be.
Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event airs tonight at 8.30pm on the E! Entertainment channel.
Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell got married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall in London on Sunday. Nancy wore a knee-lentgh white dress with flowers in her hair. Both the bride's dress and Paul's suit were custom pieces made especially for the event by his daughter, designer Stella McCartney. Paul and Nancy have been together since 2007 and got engaged in May. His youngest daughter, 7-year-old Beatrice, served as the flower girl for the ceremony. It was a relatively low-key affair, attended by about 30 of their closest friends and family. Some of the guests included Barbara Walters, as well as fellow Beatle Ringo Star and his wife Barbara Back, and George Harrison's widow Olivia. Congrats to the newlyweds Paul and Nancy!
Mark Ronson and Josephine de la Baume are married! Mark and his French model bride tied the knot yesterday in Aix en Provence, in the South of France, surrounded by family and friends, including Mark’s sisters Samantha and Charlotte Ronson, and Kate Moss and Lily Allen. The stylish musician and producer wore a candy-striped suit and his signature Ray-Bans, while Josephine looked stunning in a Zac Posen gown. During the festivities the newlyweds also toasted the late Amy Winehouse, who Mark had called his “musical soulmate.” Mark and Josephine have been dating since 2009 and got engaged in February. Congrats to the couple!
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie stepped out of Rome's Hassler Hotel on Saturday accompanied by their mother, Sarah Ferguson, en route to Petra Ecclestone's sunset wedding ceremony. The wedding festivities kicked off on Friday night with an elaborate rehearsal dinner celebrating the couple. The heiress and her fiancé, James Stunt, reportedly invited 250 guests to the lavish event, including Paris, Nicky, Kathy and Rick Hilton. Friends and family were shuttled to Odescalchi Castle prior to the wedding while the bride-to-be and her billionaire father, Bernie, were chauffeured in a Rolls-Royce. Petra walked down the aisle wearing a custom-designed Vera Wang gown, and shortly after the one-hour ceremony guests were serenaded by Andrea Bocelli. The music continued throughout the night with performances from The Black Eyed Peas, Eric Clapton, and David Guetta.
