Making it as a model isn't all about fashion. Big bucks are made in the beauty biz so, in order to be successful, it's just as important that the winner of tonight's Australia's Next Top Model be able to cut it as a beauty ambassador as well as in the fashion world. Many of the show's past winners (and even host Sarah Murdoch) have gone on to score themselves beauty campaigns so tell us who you think has what it takes to be beauty's next poster girl: Liz, Montana or Simone.
For this week's What's in Her Makeup Bag we caught up with 2010's winner of Australia's Next Top Model Amanda Ware, who shared her top five beauty buys with us! The new face of ChapStick is the epitome of natural beauty and is conscious of caring for her skin, particularly during Winter. Click through to find out which of her favourite beauty products she used to nab from her Mum's makeup bag as seven-year-old, as well as the scent she thinks "smells gorgeous."
If the whole Sarah Murdoch incorrectly announcing her as runner-up on Australia's Next Top Model debacle didn't make Amanda Ware a household name, her new ads for ChapStick certainly will. The birthday girl — she turns 19 today — will star in the iconic brand's new "Never Let Your Lips Go Naked" campaign, which will see Amanda strip off for a series of saucy shots! It's Amanda's first cosmetics contract and one that she couldn't be happier about:
"I’m excited to work for a brand that I’ve grown up with; I’ve always been a fan of ChapStick. Even at the age of seven I was forever stealing my mum’s strawberry flavour, so it’s a brand I feel comfortable representing."
ChapStick's Brand Manager Kim Wright is equally as happy with the signing, saying: "Amanda is fun, sexy and down to earth, so we know she’ll be the perfect fit for the ChapStick brand." The Gold Coast girl's done good, no? The ads are set to hit next month so you can expect to see a whole lot more of Amanda as of then! What do you think about the signing? Good fit?
Portmans clearly has a thing for Aussie girls on the up. Or more precisely, on the UP — which is the title of the Portmans new in store magazine. Apart from featuring rising star Abbey Lee Kershaw in that sleek NYC campaign shoot, the chain store is also championing the up-and-coming Amanda Ware. The Australia's Next Top Model winner shares page space with ALK, wearing lush Winter looks from the new season's range. Cobweb knits, suede separates, feather-weight peasant blouses and heavy lace skirts make for a textural treat in a mainly neutral palette. Bring on Winter! If this spread is anything to go by, Abbey better watch her back!
Aussie models are earning their runway miles at New York Fashion Week! We couldn't have been prouder than when we saw home grown beauties popping up all over the Fall catwalks. So which girls have shone in the NYC spotlight? Vogue cover girl Codie Young walked for Rodarte, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Halston, Elyse Taylor got booked for Nanette Lepore and Lela Rose, Bambi Northwood-Blyth turned her catwalking (and blogging) skills on for Jill Stuart and Diesel Black Gold, rising star Julia Nobis landed spots at Rag & Bone, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Thakoon amongst others, and Australia's Next Top Model winner Amanda Ware strutted her stuff for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Chado Ralph Rucci and L'Wren Scott. Here's to our Aussie model invasion — it's global domination, one runway at a time!
Season seven of Australia's Next Top Model is in pre-production, and that means one thing: model castings! You need to be 172cm or taller and at least 16 years of age. Get your application here. The Fox8 crew are holding castings nationwide, and we can't wait to see the bunch of beauties that judges Jez Smith, Alex Perry and Charlotte Dawson select for the final twelve. One of the most shocking moments on reality TV this year had to be Sarah Murdoch announcing the wrong winner of Australia’s Next Top Model. We’d been following the competition all season and knew it was going to be a close call between eventual winner Amanda Ware and Kelsey Martinovich. In the end, everyone was a winner with both girls getting $25,000, a trip to New York and a Harper's BAZAAR cover. Plus the footage went viral and scored the show heaps of publicity. Foxtel suits said they didn’t blame Sarah for the screw-up and production company Granada was the only real casualty in the whole debacle.
Australia's Next Top Model winner Amanda Ware can now add Bonds girl to her CV. We showed you all the pics from Amanda and Kelsey's Bonds Hipstar tour yesterday, now we're giving you the goss from Amanda on life post-ANTM. We got five minutes with this busy lady to talk her about her international modelling dreams, who she still hangs out with from the model house and what it's like to walk in Sarah Murdoch's footsteps.
We heard you just got back from NYC, how was it? It was an amazing experience. People were really nice, welcoming and happy to sign us. And I saw I saw Coco Rocha at Elite, she’s one of the best!
Are you keen to work overeseas? Yes, absolutely. I would love to go to Europe and the Asian continents. It would be an absolutely amazing experience. Obviously I would love to go anywhere the job takes me.
C'mon spill, what's the best bit about life post-ANTM? The best thing are these amazing opportunities and experiences, like going to New York and of course working with great brands like Bonds.

You know how fond we are of Australia's Next Top Model finalists Amanda Ware and Kelsey Martinovich, so when we found out that they were the new faces (or should that be butts?) of the Bonds Hipster campaign we were punching the air a little. Following in the famed footsteps of ex-Bonds Hipster girls Miranda Kerr, Catherine McNeil and ANTM host herself, Sarah Murdoch, Amanda and Kelsey have embarked on a national tour with their all dancing, DJ-ing and acrobatic-ing Hipstar Troupe. They've hit up Sydney and Melbourne already, but you can catch them today at Brisbane's Pacific Fair at 12.30pm. We nabbed five minutes with winner Amanda mid tour for a chat — so stay tuned for our full interview tomorrow. Meanwhile, you can check out Kelsey and Amanda shake those hipsters in our exclusive runway gallery.
