With the exception of a sharply dressed Jessica Alba (we'll get to her a little later), it was a veritable battle of the minidresses at Saturday's Environmental Media Awards in LA. Revenge's Emily VanCamp chose a hot-pink Andrew Gn number, offset by an embellished emerald green waist belt, Malin Akerman wore a sexy Alexx Jae & Milk LRD with mesh Prada heels, Amy Smart went the sheer cut-out route in a skin-baring LBD, and Julie Bowen followed suit with her own take on the black cocktail dress. Apart from the leggier ensembles, Jessica Alba opted out of her usual colour-blocked brights, and instead, took on a monochromatic menswear-inspired look fresh from Narciso Rodriguez's Spring '13 runway. To finish, she kept the black and white theme going with a two-toned clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti cap-toe pumps. Take a closer look at who wore what to this year's EMAs, then let us know who gets your best-dressed vote in the comments!
The 2012 Environmental Media Awards took place in LA on Saturday night, with plenty of stars stepping out for the show. Jessica Alba, who was honoured with the Green Parent Award, wore Narisco Rodriguez as she posed on the green carpet with husband Cash Warren. Ian Somerhalder travelled from the Vampire Diaries set in Georgia to accept his Futures Award while other celebrities were on hand to show their support. Pregnant Malin Akerman covered her growing bump in a red dress, and Revenge's Emily VanCamp went bright in pink just a day ahead of the season two US premiere of her small-screen hit. Also out for the annual EMAs were Amy Smart and her husband, Carter Oosterhouse, Gabrielle Reece, Cody Horn, Lance Bass and more. Click through to see them all!
We love any fashion purchase with a smart angle, hence our new obsession for the return of the jumpsuit. This is one savvy investment piece: it's more polished but lends the same functionality as our pants and blouses, plus these items easily transition from day to night with the simple switch of footwear or the added sparkle of some choice jewellery. Need more convincing? This crew of jumpsuit-clad celebrities did the legwork for us — now we can't imagine not owning this one-piece wonder. From model Chrissy Teigen's statement-making red version to Rihanna's super slick iteration, each of these style stars makes a pretty convincing case for, um, jumping into the trend right now. The Art Of Elysium gala is known for bringing out some of the best and, ahem, worst looks. It's the place where celebs either play it safe with a tried-and-tested look or go really out there and do something avant garde. Last year it was Ashley Olsen's dark lip that caught our eye — and left you totally divided — and this year, it's Rachel Griffiths' hairstyle. We think she was going for fashion-forward with the crimping and the frizzy height, but in all honestly the look is far too severe. Poor thing looks like she's been electrocuted. Props for trying something new, Rach, but now's about time to sack your stylist. Moving on . . . red lips were all over the event but it was Camilla Belle's soft peach-pink that we adored. Hair-wise, it was all about a retro up 'do à la Nicole Richie and Kelly Osbourne or hair accessories as seen on Eva Mendes and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Many of Hollywood's biggest stars headed out to LA's California Science Center LA Saturday night for the annual Heaven Gala thrown by the Art of Elysium, the organisation dedicated to getting artists to volunteer their talents to help children battling serious medical conditions. James Franco was on hand to receive their Spirit of Elysium award for his dedication to the charity, and Pop US snagged a minute with him on the red carpet before he headed inside for the cocktail hour — he confided that his preparation for hosting the Oscars with Anne Hathaway is going well. He's made the award season rounds after getting lots of critical love for his role in 127 Hours, but his personal faves of the year were The Town, Inception and I Am Love. Kirsten Dunst and Rachel Bilson also smiled for the cameras, while Nicole Richie experimented with a bold 20s look — check out Fab's picks for the top 20 outfits of the evening! Rachel was feeling under the weather, but she still turned out to lend her name to a cause she told us is very near to her heart. Brad Goreski made a dapper appearance, and he mentioned that he's been super busy jet-setting around the world working on his brand new styling gigs. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jennifer Love Hewitt shared about their excitement for today's Golden Globes, and True Blood hunk Joe Manganiello lovingly smiled for the cameras with his wife-to-be Audra Marie. Leighton Meester showed a little skin in her deep V sequined gown, but she had to skip out on the actual event, which included dinner and a Vogue-sponsored fashion show.
An impressive gathering of charitable celebs attended the Art of Elysium gala in LA over the weekend. Celebs Rachel Bilson, Leighton Meester, Nicole Richie and Eva Mendes dedicated their time to the non-profit organization, which provides artistic workshops to seriously ill children. We applaud their goodwill, and totally approve of their beautiful outfits. Click through to see the top 20 looks from the Art of Elysium.
I'm not going to say I told you so, OK, I'm totally going to say I told you so: braids are back in a BIG way. Though typically a summer style, I don't see why we can't take the effortlessly cool and totally chic look into the colder months, too. From Mary-Kate Olsen's birdy-braid to Thandie Newton's big bowed style, the possibilities are endless. Here are 10 more ways you can wear this trend . . .
Anna Kendrick joined the crowd at last night's Art of Elysium party at Palihouse Holloway in LA. She kept warm in her white coat for the second night in a row as she takes in all the pre-Oscar mania. This time she was joined by a super pink Amy Smart and silky Nicky Hilton, as well as a more casually dressed Topher Grace. Anna, who is building "freak out" time into her weekend itinerary, was representing this year's Academy Award nominees as the rest were scattered throughout the city at all the different soirees. In a few short days we'll see if the red carpet newcomer joins the ranks of iconic Oscar gowns or even takes home a win against all the predictions. Who do you think will become the proud owners of little gold men?
What are freckles? Clinically speaking, a freckle is an unusually heavy deposit of melanin at one spot in the skin. 'Freckling' is an uneven distribution of melanin pigment across the skin surface. These wee brown spots develop as a result of a combination of genetics and sun exposure. For some, they're born with 'em. For others, freckles appear over time in response to sun sensitivity. Pesky or cute? Well, with our sun-smart face on, we're gonna go with cute. In fact, lots of stars are peppered with these sweet spots, and we've got photos to prove that freckles have a certain kind of natural appeal. What do you think?
The Roosevelt hotel in Hollywood was brimming with celebrities Thursday night who were out for the first annual Friends Without A Border gala. Some of the night's hosts included Anne Hathaway, who was gracious on the red carpet before heading in to meet up with her boyfriend. She gushed about how much she loves Glee and even said that she would love to guest star on the show! Robin Thicke performed and also revealed how he keeps his glowing pregnant wife Paula Patton happy — with regular belly and foot rubs. Busy Philips and Ali Larter both looked gorgeous and talked about their passion for the cause, which supports a hospital in Cambodia. Eva Longoria swooped in at the end of the arrivals, posing and smiling quickly before heading in to be applauded as one of the event's many hosts. Inside, the attendees mixed, mingled, bid on auction items, and settled in for a dominoes tournament as the evening went on.
