Alicia Keys. Lorde. Flume. It was the 2013 ARIA Awards that gathered these music greats (and many more) in the same room last night. Before the official proceedings kicked off at the Events Centre at The Star, the biggest names in Australian music showed off their style on the black carpet, and then Birds of Tokyo got the show started with a performance of their hit “Lanterns.” 22-year-old Harley Streten aka Flume took home his first award of the night for Best Breakthrough Release; he would go on to also win Best Dance Release and Best Male Artist, and the humble producer noted that he was the first non-singing musician to win the latter award. Shortly after, a surprised Guy Sebastian was awarded his first ever ARIA for Best Pop Release, which he said he had waited a long time for.
Throughout the night, DJs such as Alison Wonderland, The Stafford Brothers and The Faders kept guests entertained with sets in between presenters and performers. The most hyped performers of the night were international guest Alicia Keys and 17-year-old Kiwi sensation Ella Yellich O’Connor aka Lorde, who treated the crowd to “Team” in her first televised Australian performance, but the stage also lit up with performances by Bliss n Eso, Vance Joy, Flume, and two of the night’s other big winners, Tame Impala and Jessica Mauboy.
Alicia Keys returned to the stage towards the end of the night to present the Best Female Artist ARIA to Jessica Mauboy, who was thrilled to receive her award from the Grammy winner, and even sang a bit of a tribute to her. Jessica said her win was about “creating pathways,” not only for other indigenous Australian musicians but for everyone. The show wrapped up with the announcement that Tame Impala’s Lonerism had won Album of the Year, and the boys thanked their friends and girlfriends for loving them and sticking around, even though they were away for most of the year.

The 2013 ARIA Awards took place at The Star in Sydney tonight to recognise the best of the Australian music industry. 22-year-old producer Harley Streten aka Flume, who was nominated for eight awards in total, won three tonight, as did the band Tame Impala, who also took home the biggest award of the night, Album of the Year, for Lonerism.
It was a good night for Australian Idol alums Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy — Guy won his very first ARIA after years of nominations, and Jessica was presented the Best Female Artist honour by international star Alicia Keys.

It's one of the most enjoyable nights on the Australian social calendar, with the crème de la crème of Australian music coming out to celebrate a year of hard work and great success. While the dress code is up for interpretation, it seems most stars took the sophisticated route when it came to dressing for tonight's event. From Jessica Gomes' slick Dion Lee number, to Samantha Jade's frothy Steven Khalil confection and Alicia Keys' bright Stella McCartney, we certainly haven't been let down! Even the guys are wowing us — particularly man of the night Flume, who's looking like a rockstar in his Dior suit. Click through to see all the style from the black carpet, and tell us which is your favourite in the comments!

The 2013 ARIA Awards might not kick off until tonight, but that doesn't mean all's quiet behind the scenes! Lucky we have Instagram and Twitter to keep us on top of all the happenings — so far we've seen Jessica Mauboy showing off her backstage pass ahead of rehearsals, Samantha Jade on her way to set up for her 3pm performance on the David Jones black carpet, and New Zealand superstar Lorde chilling backstage in some casual closes. With Flume, Alicia Keys, Cody Simpson, Guy Sebastian and more all expected to walk the carpet, you can expect to see all the first photos here as they happen. Stay tuned — and don't forget to watch on GO! from 7:30pm tonight.
The 2013 ARIA Awards are happening this weekend, and the stars of the Australian music industry will be out in force on the red carpet at The Star. The line-up includes multi-nominated acts such as Flume, Guy Sebastian, Birds of Tokyo and RÜFÜS, while Alicia Keys will take time out of her first Aussie tour to give a performance. This morning it was announced that one of the year’s most talked-about musicians, 17-year-old New Zealander Lorde, will perform her single “Team.” Plenty of awards will be handed out, and Air Supply will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
To prepare for the event, which will air on GO! from 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, we’re looking back at the ARIA Awards through the years, so click through for all the snaps.
Sunday marks the Australian music industry's biggest event — the ARIA Awards. To help you get in the mood, we're taking a look back at last year's biggest beauty moments. International superstar Taylor Swift performed alongside Australian stars Guy Sebastian and Missy Higgins. But, back to the beauty! We saw a trend in navy and metallic — both eyeshadow and eyeliner — and the nails were either really dark (black) or nude. The hair looks included a real mix of sky-high buns à la Ricki-Lee Coulter, and soft, natural waves seen on Samantha Jade and DJ Havana Brown. We loved Jesinta Campbell's foray into pink (temporary!) hair and Taylor Swift's romantic twist chignon. Click through to see all the looks from the 2012 ARIA Awards.
Leading players of the Australian music industry gathered at the Art Gallery of NSW this morning for the announcement of the 2013 ARIA Award nominations. 21-year-old electronic music producer Flume (real name Harley Streten) led the pack with eight nominations, including album of the year, breakthrough release and best male artist, while Perth act Tame Impala followed closely with seven. Birds of Tokyo and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds scored six nominations each, and former reality show alums such as Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy received nominations in the peer-voted categories after years of being sidelined in the awards decided by the public.
We were so shocked to see one Miss Ruby Rose with long hair last night at the ARIA Awards. The tattooed DJ and presenter rocked twisted cornrows and a punchy orange lip to the event, and we think it's one of her coolest looks to date. The man behind last night's statement hair and makeup is Byron Turnbull, who kindly filled-us in on how to get the look at home. Click through for cool.
