Three words to describe Gucci's Spring 2014 show? Sexy, sexy, and more sexy. Evoking the feel of a sun-drenched, seaside resort, the hair was tousled and wet, similar to what we saw on the Spring 2014 runways of NYFW. Textured and part-less at the top and slightly bent at the bottom, strands cascaded down the models' backs. The makeup also had a "wet look" about it, with loads of bronze shadow blended around the eyes and a swipe of glossy pink decorating the lips. But the centre piece of the look? Plenty of bronzer. For Spring, Gucci gave us beach babes at their best.
Winter doesn't have to spell the end of beach-waves, which is ideal for us ladies. This no-muss hairstyle looks great on a bevy of hair lengths. Don't believe us? We're rounded up some of the best beachy waves in Hollywood. Just click through to get inspired and make some waves of your own.
1. Braids After working a leave-in conditioner through your hair, blow-dry it until it's about 80 percent dry. Then, douse your hair in a beach spray, like O&M Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray ($24.95). Muss up your hair a bit with your fingers, divide it into two sections, braid, and fall asleep. When you wake up in the morning, fluff your hair with your fingers to add volume.
2. Twists Follow the same steps as the braids above, but instead of braiding your hair, twist it away from your face in two sections. Then take the twists and fold them over the top of your head like milkmaid braids for easy sleeping. When you wake up in the morning, simply run your hands through your hair and spritz on some hair spray, like Living Proof No Frizz Weightless Styling Spray ($35), for shine and hold.
3. Top Knot If you've got longer hair, opt for a lightweight mousse like Tresemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse ($8.35). Dry your hair halfway and then scrunch the mousse into your strands. Flip your head over and twist your hair into a high top knot, making sure it isn't pulled too taught around your scalp. Secure with a hair tie and pins. In the morning, take your hair down and reinforce some of the waves with your fingers or a curling iron for extra hold.

What's more Australian than a gorgeous girl leaving the beach with sexy, salty, textured hair? We say: nothing. With Australia Day fast approaching (um, it's tomorrow), we've got your nails covered and your fun outfit sorted out nicely, but the easiest way to amp up your Summer sex appeal and overall cool-girl beauty look is by spritzing a good quality sea salt spray through your locks. A few of us here at Sugar are big fans at the stuff, so we've tried and tested most of these. And let us tell you, they've got the goods. They don't weigh your hair down or leave it looking greasy, and they actually give you that sexy hair you've always wanted — think Lara Bingle, Sienna Miller and Jodi Gordon. Click through to see which ones we recommend, then spritz your way into your Oz Day delecbrations!
Looking the picture of health, Gwyneth Paltrow went for a natural beauty look at today's private screening of End of Watch in the Hamptons. Joined by her friend and fellow Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal, Gwyneth's beachy hair and barely-there makeup was the perfect match for the relaxed event. Clearly in holiday mode and letting her glow do all the talking, she looks to be wearing just a touch of mascara and little to no foundation — we can even see freckles!
As we move into Spring, Gwyneth's natural beauty look is a great example of how to look good in the heat. Whether you're fresh from a day at the beach or, like Gwyneth, you want to make it look like you are, let your hair air-dry and then spritz Lara Bingle's favourite salt spray, Evo Salty Dog Beach Cocktail Spray ($25.61) through the ends. Grab your hair dryer and set to a medium heat, then roughly dry the spray into your hair. This will give you Gwyneth's slightly toussled look — so effortless and sexy.
It's one thing to achieve effortless, gorgeous hair on a normal day, let alone in Summer temperatures where you have to factor in humidity, frizziness and post-beach salt-drenched locks. In this instance it's best to work with you've got and use these factors to your best advantage. We've picked out five hairstyles, including tousled waves, braids and a topknot using celebrity red carpet looks as inspiration. These easy-to-recreate trends will take you from the the beach to the bar with minimal effort — a product or two, a few bobby pins and a hair tie!
Always one to stand out from the crowd, Ke$ha treated us to a colourful eye palette that transitioned from yellow gold in the inner V of the eye to an aqua blue and smoky grey blend before extending out into a chocolate-coloured wing. It was teamed with a bronzed complexion and two tribal-like markings — which looked to us like black kohl — underneath her right eye. Her hair was its usually beachy mass of curls. We may not advocate Michael Kors' Spring 2011 makeup inspiration — too much time sunbaking — but the finished look we applaud. The wash of pinky-red across the cheeks was the focal point, with the eyes getting a little dusting of mushroom shadow and the lashes remaining nude. The lip was gorgeous too: an ultra-light peach. The beach vibe followed right on through to the hair with it being scrunched into a pony and left loose and long at the front.
The temperatures are soaring, Cannes is but a moment a way, so it's little wonder that US and European celebs are letting their locks down and indulging in the two-parts Beach Chic, one-part Bed Head hairstyle. Mary-Kate Olsen teamed hers with a Narcisco Rodriguez S/S bronzed smoky eye at the Holy Rollers NY premiere on Monday, while Chanel's gorgeous Vanessa Paradis and Rimmel spokeswoman Georgia May Jagger were both in St Tropez to celebrate Karl Lagerfeld's short film, Remember Now and check out Chanel's Cruise Collection. Mary-Kate and Georgia May have gone for a rawer texture, which you can emulate using a sea spray such as ghd Sea Spray ($35) or KMS California Hairplay Sea Salt Spray ($36.95). Vanessa's has a softer finish, which can be achieved by tonging random sections. Do you like the style? Will you be copying it quick smart or saving it for lazy summer days?
