2010 MTV Europe Music Awards: Taylor Momsen

When it comes to the red carpet, celebs do one of two things: try something totally new and different (to mixed response) or stick with their signature style (to mixed response).

When it comes to the red carpet, celebs do one of two things: try something totally new and different (to mixed response) or stick with their signature style (to mixed response). Taylor Momsen does the latter. Save for some red eyeshadow, I've never seen Little J wear anything other than black shadow that covers her entire socket, blood red lipstick and the LONGEST hair extensions in the world. Last night's award ceremony was no different, though she did add a little bronze shadow into the mix to lighten things up. Despite the length, her hair did look in good condition and hair streaks were spotted on the runway at Cynthia Rowley so Taylz's ones could be considered fashion-forward, no? Do you like Tay-Tay's EMAs look?

Alexa Chung: The Master of Winged Eyeliner

If you see Alexa Chung on this site a lot, it's because Fab and I are obsessed.

If you see Alexa Chung on this site a lot, it's because Fab and I are obsessed. But with good reason we feel. If she's not making me do a total-180 on the whole socks/sandals wearing, she's pulling out The Best Winged Eyeliner that I have EVER seen time and time again. Proving it's no fluke: the girl is a genius. Now, obviously, a girl like Lex will have the A-list of A-list face maker-uppers clabbering to get their hands on her, but the reason I love her look so much is that it screams: What, this? Oh I just did this in the back of my car on the way down. It's easy like Sunday morning. Here's my advice on blatantly stealing her style:

STEP 1: I'm from the Rae Morris (super duper Australian makeup artist) school of thought so I like to throw some sticky tape into the mix. It makes winged eyeliner application heaven so anyone (trust me, anyone) can perfect it. So, the angle you're looking for goes from your nose, hits the outer corner of your eye and goes straight up to your hairline: that's the slant that your liner is going to follow so stick some tape along to act as a guide.

2010 A/W Paris Fashion Week: Lanvin

The ebony wigs that graced the A/W '10 Lanvin catwalks reminded me of Selma Blair's hair from back in the day.

The ebony wigs that graced the A/W '10 Lanvin catwalks reminded me of Selma Blair's hair from back in the day. I guess they're also like Cleopatra-meets-Leigh-Lezark-meets-Mr-Shine. I like them. Which is bad. I'm meant to be embracing my Alexa/Kate Beckinsale hair, not coveting my long-lost fringe. Luckily I don't have nearly as much desire to turn myself into a "mannequin," the term that Pat McGrath used to describe the makeup look. Personally I'd say goth smoky eye summed it up better. Do you like it? How about the wigs? Do tell . . .

2010 Fall New York Fashion Week: Zac Posen

The red carpet go-to man put on a stellar show for front rowers Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington.

The red carpet go-to man put on a stellar show for front rowers Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington. I was a particular fan of the modern take on the smoky eye, see how the makeup artists applied vertical ebony lines across the lid and under-eye area, as well as lining the lower lash line with kohl and coating the whole lid in black shadow? It again gave that kind of slept-in-makeup look that we've been seeing plenty of on the runway. Hair was loosely tousled, with some models wearing gorgeous fascinators that I am willing to kill for. You like?
