2011 Sugar Awards: Vote on the Year's Big Beauty Influencer

For the past few years headbands, '50s blow-dries and ivory skin has dominated the beauty stratosphere as Gossip Girl, Mad Men and Twilight ruled the small and big screens.

For the past few years headbands, '50s blow-dries and ivory skin has dominated the beauty stratosphere as Gossip Girl, Mad Men and Twilight ruled the small and big screens. But this year there's been a definite departure thanks to a spotlight on the glamour of the 1920s — think finger waves, flapper headbands and berry lips — as shows like Underbelly: Razor and Boardwalk Empire hit the big time. The decade got even more of a push when Baz Lurhman announced that he'd be remaking the classic, The Great Gatsby, with Cary Mulligan and co. here in Australia. But for some, Breaking Dawn: Part 1 will still have had the biggest impact on their beauty look, especially thanks to Bella and Edward's wedding scene. Take a look and tell us which show or movie you think has influenced beauty the most this year?

Steal Her Style: Paz de la Huerta & the Boardwalk Empire Cast!

Last night Boardwalk Empire FINALLY hit our screens and we couldn't have been happier.

Last night Boardwalk Empire FINALLY hit our screens and we couldn't have been happier. The show's been generating heaps of buzz in the US, earning itself critical acclaim and some awards along the way. Set in 1920s Atlantic City during the Prohibition, it's full of flapper-chic beauty, giving us reason to bust out the hair accessories and perfect that red lip. Full of inspiration for a themed-party (please include us on the invite list) or simply a way to jazz up your everyday look, it's a must-see, must-steal hit of beautiful looks. Move over, Mad Men.

Boardwalk Empire Premieres in Australia Tonight!

For months now, we’ve been hearing about this new TV called Boardwalk Empire.

For months now, we’ve been hearing about this new TV called Boardwalk Empire. Its name probably sounds familiar to you because it’s been sweeping the TV categories during awards season, taking home top prizes at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. The team behind the show is brilliant — it comes from Terence Winter, the writer behind The Sopranos, and director Martin Scorsese (for the pilot; he also acts as producer). Shot in New York, it recreates 1920s Atlantic City during the Prohibition and the gangsters who run it, with a focus on Enoch “Nucky” Thompson (Steve Buscemi), the lord of the organised crime scene. It also features a talented cast including Michael Pitt, Kelly Macdonald, Paz de la Huerta, Gretchen Mol and Michael Shannon. The best bit? After all the hype we finally get a chance to see it for ourselves when it premieres tonight! Will you be getting into Boardwalk Empire?

Boardwalk Empire premieres on Sunday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. on Showcase.

A Nearly-Nude Olivia Wilde Graces the Cover of Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair's Hollywood issue is always one to look out for.

Vanity Fair's Hollywood issue is always one to look out for. Last year it was all about fresh faces including Aussies Mia Wasikowska and Abbie Cornish, alongside Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan, Emma Stone and more. This year the line-up includes the crème de la crème of Hollywood right now. Think: Olivia Wilde, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde. It's 1920s vibe is totally Boardwalk Empire — our new favourite show. Olivia is a knockout in a super-revealing gown, and we LOVE her hair and makeup the most. While Anne rocks some serious curls on the cover, Olivia's sleek curls and deep berry lip combo is a retro look that still looks AMAZE today. See all the behind-the-scenes action here!

What Was the Biggest Surprise at the Golden Globes?

After all the red carpet and after party stalking, it's time to reflect on another Golden Globe Awards show come and gone.

After all the red carpet and after party stalking, it's time to reflect on another Golden Globe Awards show come and gone. We were pleased to see that many of our TV and movie predictions came true, but there were still a few major surprises from the night. It's hard for us to say whether we thought Boardwalk Empire was deserving of so much love since it hasn't aired here (it will premiere on Showcase in March and will most likely screen on SBS in 2012) but the HFPA is known for recognising new shows. On the movie side many of you didn't agree with all of The Social Network's wins. As we wait for the next big award show, tell us — what was the biggest surprise at the Golden Globes?

TV Stars Welcome Boardwalk Empire to the HBO Family

Small screen stars came out in force last night for the NYC premiere of HBO's Boardwalk Empire.

Small screen stars came out in force last night for the NYC premiere of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. True Blood's Joe Manganiello showed some love for HBO during a break from his Fashion Week rounds with the girlfriend he's so fond of. The Entourage crew was well represented with Adrian Grenier and Mark Wahlberg, who stole a minute to catch up with Diddy. Steve Buscemi was the star of the evening, but he still managed to greet his old Sopranos co-stars James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and Lorraine Bracco. Mick Jagger even made a cameo with his lady friend L'Wren Scott.
