The Brit Awards at London's O2 Arena were a star-studded affair with many of music's finest stepping out for the event today. Rihanna, who celebrated her 24th birthday on Monday, switched out of her gold Givenchy gown to take the stage in a white outfit, while Adele showed off her vocal talents for the first time in the UK since undergoing throat surgery last year. She wore a black Burberry dress for the show and accepted her British female solo artist honour with a smile. Chris Martin and his band Coldplay took home the British group award and performed during the event. Also on hand for the Brit Awards were Florence & the Machine, X Factor UK alums One Direction, Formula One driver Jenson Button, Kylie Minogue, Bruno Mars, and British singer Ed Sheeran, who picked up the statue for breakthrough act. Rihanna, Adele, and More at the Brit Awards — Which Look Reigns Supreme?
The Brit Awards red carpet was filled with enviable looks from some of our favourite songstresses. 2012 Brit Awards: Florence Welch

Always one to shy away from the more traditional red carpet styles, Florence Welch chose an Alexander McQueen gown from the Spring '12 collection in a dusty peach shade with the intricate lace, pearl and soft ruffled detailing lending to the ultra-femme feel. While the original design seen on the runway was sleeveless, Florence opted for cut-out long sleeves, further playing up the girly vibe. Alexander McQueen strappy platform wedges completed her red carpet look. What's your take?

Kylie Minogue switched up her red carpet style for the Brit Awards, surprising us with her understated blue Yves Saint Laurent gown. The structured, strapless dress had an empire waistline, with a jewelled brooch at the centre. She vamped up the glam factor with glitter mesh platform heels and chandelier diamond earrings. 2012 Brit Awards: Lana Del Rey

Mulberry muse and hit songstress Lana Del Rey played lady in red in an off-the-shoulder gown from Vivienne Westwood. We're loving her bold colour choice, simple diamond accessories and the structured waistline, and can't help but draw similarities to Julia Roberts' gown from the opera scene in Pretty Woman. — you, too? What do you think of her slightly retro, old school glamour red carpet style?

2012 Brit Awards: Florence Welch

When flicking through the archives yesterday, we noticed that Florence Welch had very red hair at the 2010 Brit Awards. Like fiery red. This year she's chosen to make another colour change, deepening her hair hue for tonight's Brits. Wearing her fringe parted in the centre and her hair tonged, the Florence & the Machine frontwoman has gone for a grunge-glam eye but it's the toffee-toned nails that caught my eye. What do you think of her new look and red carpet style?

2012 Brit Awards: Adele

In a style not too dissimilar to the one she wore to accept her Grammy Awards, Adele chose another Burberry gown for her turn on the red carpet at the Brit Awards. The floor-length black gown was nipped in at the waist, with a sheer, discreetly embellished neckline. Accessories-wise she opted for oversized cluster diamond earrings. Do you rate her red carpet look? Or do you wish she would mix it up a little?

2012 Brit Awards: Adele

Adele was hands-down our fave at last year's Brit Awards — and not just because she made us cry with her heartwrenching rendition of "Someone Like You". Those peepers were polished to perfection so we wondered if she'd be able to top it this year. Turns out she can. Throwing a little glitter into the mix, alongside her red carpet regulars (big hair, big lashes and big blush) was a smart move. It's another key trend for the season ahead so load up your lips à la Moschino Cheap & Chic or wear it on your eyes with diamond-tipped nails just like Adele.

Adele, Kylie, Rihanna, Lana, One Direction and More Celebrate Music at the Brit Awards
The Grammys may have been held over a week ago, but the music celebrations are continuing with the Brit Awards in London today. Grammys golden girl Adele, who won six awards last week and made a triumphant return to the stage after vocal chord surgery last year, went into the Brit Awards today with three nominations, and has already won the British female honour. Rihanna was just announced as the winner of International Female award, which she also took home last year. Lana Del Rey skipped the main arrivals line but posed inside the O2 Arena in a red gown; she’s also making waves in the fashion world, with Mulberry revealing that they’ve named their next bag after her. Kylie Minogue stood out in a blue strapless dress, and the One Direction boys matched in grey tones, and also won the British Single award for “What Makes You Beautiful.”
