It was a warm Summer night for last night's Lawless premiere in NYC, hosted by The Cinema Society and Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto. Keeping cool yet red carpet appropriate, Lawless star Jessica Chastain donned a gorgeous black vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress paired with YSL Tribute pumps, and colourful jewelled Tom Binns bracelets. Meanwhile, Hilary Rhoda opted for a sportier look in a colour-blocked sheath dress by A.L.C. and Alexander Wang heels, Chloë Sevigny paired a flirty floral dress with tough boots and a Pierre Hardy bag, and Nora Zehetner went white in a menswear-inspired dress accessorized with grey ankle boots and a reptilian clutch. Which red-carpet look do you like best? Vote for your favourite below now!
Shia LaBeouf and his Lawless leading lady, Jessica Chastain, teamed up for a Cinema Society screening of their film at NYC's Paley Center for Media yesterday. The screening was also sponsored by YSL Beaute, and Jessica was fittingly decked out in a YSL dress with Tom Binns jewellery. She kept up her brand loyalty, wearing a black YSL outfit. In addition to Shia and Jessica, other stars checked out the premiere. Seth Meyers and Chloë Sevigny swung by, as did Patti Smith, Patricia Clarkson and Melissa Leo. Later on, Shia and Jessica toasted their action movie, which is out Oct. 11, with an after party at Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel.
We caught a moment with both stars on the red carpet, and they spoke about how they stuck close to the film's Prohibition-era theme by drinking moonshine after the cameras stopped rolling. Shia viewed drinking as a good bonding experience with the cast, but Jessica didn't really take to it. She told us, "We would drink moonshine — I didn't drink so much moonshine. I like liquor that's sweet, and the moonshine we had down there wasn't so sweet!"
Ah, the perils of having style crushes all around the globe — the seasonal difference between us and the northern hemisphere has us desperate to give our summer threads a spin, even though we're still in winter! Model Dree Hemingway's gorgeous Marc Jacob's embellished sundress and white lace-ups had us dreaming of long days in a lush park, while Kate Moss' '70s-boho kaftan and healthy glow sent us into a (very enjoyable) sartorial spin. Warm summer nights aren't upon us yet, though, so we're lucky that Chloë Sevigny and Miranda Kerr have our backs — their flared jeans and monochromatic coat, respectively, reminded us of exactly why we love the cold season: layer + layer of beautiful clothing = one ridiculously good outfit. Flick through our pick of this week's top ten looks, and let us know which were your favourite. Enjoy!
