What's the next logical step when you have a pixie cut as famous as Coco Rocha's? Go shorter! At least that's what was on Coco's mind, and that of her stylist Anh Co Tran, when she took a spin in the stylist chair yesterday . . . and shared the process on her Instagram account. "She just wanted a change, so I suggested we go shorter," Tran, who cut Coco's hair during her first Instagram debut, said. Coco brought in references, which included Twiggy but not Justin Beiber, who she references in the video below.
Tran cut one side a bit longer than the other for versatility and to give the illusion of bangs. And the versatility came in handy last night, as Coco styled her own hair for an event celebrating L'Wren Scott's collection for Banana Republic. "She plays with her hair all the time," Tran said yesterday. "I'm excited to see how she styles it tonight! Most of the time she does it herself." And can we just say, Coco did a pretty good job. She styled her hair with tons of texture, with her piecey faux-bangs swept across her forehead. "When you put in a really good haircut, it can't go wrong," Tran said. So many inspiring ladies, so little time! Today, in New York, countless female celebrities — Lena Dunham, Lily Collins, Karlie Kloss and more — stepped out to celebrate the most inspirational, brave, snd successful women of the year. The 2013 Glamour Women of the Year Awards were always going to be a headlining event, with the likes of Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand, Catherine Martin and Christy Turlington-Burns all on the receiving end of the prestigious awards.
As well as the showbiz stars mentioned above, some non-famous women were honoured as well. Most notably: Kaitlin Roig-Debellis, whose heroic actions saved 15 kindergarten children in last year's Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head — and survived — after standing up to conservative rule in her native Pakistan last year. To say it's been a beautiful week is quite the understatement. Things kicked into gear on Saturday with Derby Day, where Lara Bingle gave us bronzed but almost red eyeshadow, and Jennifer Hawkins' sunk-kissed ponytail had us reconsidering balayage all over again. Melbourne Cup came around quickly on Tuesday, where Kate Waterhouse presented with a very dainty Nerida Winter headpiece to complement her chocolate waves. But then there's Coco Rocha, Kate Upton, Poppy Delevingne. . . Gosh, where to begin? Inside.
When style icons like Coco Rocha step out with our local best dressed regulars (Jennifer Hawkins and Rachael Finch, that's you!) for Melbourne Cup Carnival, and the international style set are out in force, it's impossible to pick just ten celebrities for our weekly best dressed. So today you'll find 20 of the week's most amazing outfits inside the gallery.
Derby Day proved to be black, white and chic all over, while Melbourne Cup's colourful dress code delivered some bright additions to this week's list. Overseas, we saw Nicole Richie in Gucci, Miranda Kerr nail airport dressing and Jess Hart go simple and chic on the red carpet. All that and more right here in the gallery. What are you waiting for?
"I really wanted Coco's hair and make up to reflect to reflect the elegance and sophistication of Crown Oaks Day, but also incorporate a fashion edge," she tells POPSUGAR Australia Beauty. "[Yesterday] Coco was dressed in Anthony Capon's Myer Fashions on the Field Designer Award ensemble, so I paired it with a golden cat-eye with a deep red lip. And because the headpiece — also by Capon — was so dramatic, I kept Coco's hair sleek as not to compete."
It might not be the race that stops the nation, but Crown Oaks Day has earned a reputation for delivering the best frocks and fascinators of them all. The 'ladies day' of Melbourne Cup Carnival, it’s all eyes on the fillies at Oaks Day, both on and off the track.
Today the focus is firmly on fashion, with the day traditionally delivering some of the most feminine, trend-driven ensembles of the entire carnival. Plus, with Coco Rocha, Whitney Port and Jennifer Hawkins attending, you know this is one event worth watching.
So far in the gallery, Whitney Port and Jennifer Hawkins snap their style, Rachael Finch gives us a peek at her red and white printed Aurelio Costarella dress and Kim Fletcher fascinator, Jesinta Campbell nails the crop top, while Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador Rebecca Bramich showcases a plunging white-lace dress and pink headpiece.
Coco Rocha's sculptural look is by Australian designer Anthony Capon who she judged in the the design award at Melbourne Cup. Paired with an Aurelio Costarella skirt, her outfit is a definite must-see.
