2011 RAFW: Dhini

Butterflies served as inspiration for the hair and makeup look at Dhini.

Butterflies served as inspiration for the hair and makeup look at Dhini. Caterina Di Biase from Heading Out Hair wanted to keep the hair curved to reflect the movement of the butterflies' wings so she tucked up the models hair, making it shorter and worked waves throughout to create texture. She used L'Oréal Professionnel Root Lift Mousse, Play Ball Beach Fizz and Play Ball Deviation Paste to create the look. It was teamed with a dual-colour lip look, comprising of an orange upper lip and a fuchsia bottom lip. The rest of the look was pared back to really let the lips do the talking.

RAFW 2010: High and Mighty Crowns at Dhini

Inspired by the idea of royalty, L'Oreal Professionnel Hair Director Brad Ngata created a magnificent crown shape by backcombing like a mad man and using L'Oreal Professionnel Volume Lift.

Inspired by the idea of royalty, L'Oreal Professionnel Hair Director Brad Ngata created a magnificent crown shape by backcombing like a mad man and using L'Oreal Professionnel Volume Lift. To make the 'crown' stand out, Brad braided a small section, just above the nape of the neck. I was skeptical whether it would stay in place on the runway, not for one second because I don't believe he's a genius (I go to his salon myself), but because I've seen the strut on some of those models . . . fierce doesn't even cover it! I shouldn't have worried though, the style, which was surprisingly quick to create, held up and transformed the models into princesses.

RAFW 2010: Princess Gets Her Galactic On For Dhini

The whole look at Dhini was Indian royalty; she's a Mughal empress meets "intergalatic oddity," according to Napoleon Perdis' team.

The whole look at Dhini was Indian royalty; she's a Mughal empress meets "intergalatic oddity," according to Napoleon Perdis' team. Sadly the man himself is unwell, early call times and stepping out of the boiling hot backstage tents into the freezing Sydney temperatures are wreaking havoc with us all. Still, the show must go on and go on it did. Napoleon's team created a gorgeous focus forehead that was a combination of Loose Dusts in Opal and White Sparkle. The rest of the face again featured Napoleon's Key Three. It was definitely striking and suited what Napoleon calls Dhini's "maverick" style. The nails, which were done by CND, followed through on the Taj Mahal princess vibe: the thumb and forefinger were covered with jewels and sequins. Very luxe!
