The Style Files: Fashion, On A Budget

I've never been a big spender when it comes to clothing.

I've never been a big spender when it comes to clothing. Don't get me wrong — I love it all and tear through fashion magazines and websites like it's nobody's business. But I like to have fun with my style without blowing the budget. I don't have a clear-cut aesthetic that I stick to — some days I'll go for a more feminine look with a floral dress and heels, others I'll go edgy with an all-black look. I really dress for my moods, but overall you could describe my style as girlie, simple and light-hearted. Chain-stores allow me to try new looks, colours, prints and trends, and I like letting my style evolve that way. Once I've found a look I love, I'll then invest in some quality pieces to make it a long-term reality in my wardrobe.

Since my clothes are so varied, it's pretty essential for me to have a range of jewellery that can complement any outfit — I find that the latest PANDORA collection really nails that side of things for me. Whether it's thin, intricate silver rings that stack like a dream, pretty pendants or beautiful watches, classic jewellery is the one thing I splash out on, because it's so timeless. Want to see what I'm on the hunt for now? Let me show you. . .

Good Things Come in Small (Louis Vuitton) Packages

This may not be new to you, but this ridiculously cute clip just cured our Monday-morning-itis, so we are sharing it 'round.

This may not be new to you, but this ridiculously cute clip just cured our Monday-morning-itis, so we are sharing it 'round. Louis Vuitton enlisted this genetically blessed blogger trio to showcase the fashion house's (adorable) latest addition to their S/S '13 handbag line-up; the cross-body mini bag. Miroslava Duma, Hanneli Mustaparta and Elin Kling galavant around Paris in the cutest of (street-style-snapper-ready) ensembles whilst toting the hands-free hold-alls. The rest of the working week looks somehow manageable now. Pass me that baguette, we've work to do! To see the girls at play, just . . .

Shop Our Favourites from the Elin Kling For Marciano Line

When we sat down for a cup of tea with Swedish street style star/blogger/fashion editor Elin Kling during fashion week back in May, we couldn't have been more impressed with her down-to-earth attitude, happy optimism (even in the face of lost luggage) and her dedication to the fashion game.

When we sat down for a cup of tea with Swedish street style star/blogger/fashion editor Elin Kling during fashion week back in May, we couldn't have been more impressed with her down-to-earth attitude, happy optimism (even in the face of lost luggage) and her dedication to the fashion game. GUESS' CEO and creative director Paul Marciano obviously felt the same way, saying of Elin "She is feminine, she is sexy, she is super confident and I really love how she perceived the brand. It isn’t just that she is a blogger — what drove me first was her. It was Elin.” Reason enough then for the global brand to ask Ms Kling to design the first collaborative collection for the more fashion-forward extension label for GUESS, GUESS by Marciano. The collection includes denim, leather and accessories priced from $59 for a tank to $279 for an embroidered dress — all signature Kling to us; understated, modern and unexpectedly sexy. You can see it IRL in the Pitt St, Sydney GUESS store and online. We've rouneded up our five favourites for your perusing pleasure.

Elin Kling On Modern Beauty: "I Like How Fresh It Looks, It’s Not Telling"

She's Sweden's most fashionable export, and now, blogger, designer and editor, Elin Kling, dishes her unique taste in beauty to Into The Gloss.

She's Sweden's most fashionable export, and now, blogger, designer and editor, Elin Kling, dishes her unique taste in beauty to Into The Gloss. Now I have to admit, she's my style icon and I've always loved her take on minimal fashion, but I was blown away with her refreshing approach to makeup and how she uses it. The epitome of today's modern, dynamic and multidimensional woman, Elin covers everything from the lengths (pun!) she goes to for that "Swedish blonde", to her obsession with perfect nude nails and cream-based products.

Some highlights for your delight, but be sure to check out the whole story:

  • "I think when you don’t wear mascara, it looks so much more fresh . . . No mascara is a little more modern looking."
  • "In meetings, sometimes people don’t expect too much of me, so I get to surprise them — I like my fragrance to represent the strength in that."
  • ". . . I like it when it looks like I don’t have any makeup on. Most people think that if you put something on the eye, you need to see it, but I don’t."

Candids: See What Miranda Kerr, Whitney Port, Rihanna & More Got Up To This Week

We love social media because it lets us communicate and stay up to date with the news... But mostly we love social media because it gives us a little peek into the lives of all our favourite models, celebrities and style mavens.

We love social media because it lets us communicate and stay up to date with the news... But mostly we love social media because it gives us a little peek into the lives of all our favourite models, celebrities and style mavens. This week, stylist Romy Frydman shared a snap of herself and Miranda Kerr (in a to-die-for Gucci gown) hanging out, and Rihanna shared her favourite t-shirt with us. Jennifer Hawkins snapped some behind-the-scenes shots at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival (thanks, Jen!) and Lara Bingle showed off a pair of stilettos that we. must. have. Call us nosy if you want, but we've collected all of this week's best candids and put them together for you — it's like a fashion feast for the eyes!
