Fashion week may have ended last week, but it hasn’t stopped us dreaming about all the to-die-for beauty looks we spotted on the runway. So, it's really no surprise we made a beeline straight to the lip looks. We’ve also picked some essential must-haves that we just couldn’t live without (of course!). It's time for some TLC, come see…
Every brand has a hero product — the one that gains cult-like status and sometimes becomes more well-known than the brand itself. Here in Australia, one of our most famous beauty exports is paw paw ointment (Lucas Paw Paw, we're looking at you), but there's countless other five-star offerings made in our very own backyard. To celebrate the end of Australia Week we're showcasing the Aussie beauty all-stars — and we've even plucked out the hero product from each brand for you, too.
Australia Day doesn't have to mean Southern Cross tattoos and the Aussie flag worn as a cape — it is possible to style it up right. Enter patriotic nail duos! If you want to keep your love for our sunburnt country a little low-key this week and right through into the weekend, why not go cobalt or navy blue with a red feature nail, or visa versa? Just remember to keep your talons short, neat and chic. Click through to see our favourite, perfect Australia Day nail polish pairs.
Today marks the date 12/12/12, and what better way to celebrate than with our top 12 party-ready lipstick picks? A bright lip is a bit of a commitment, so be sure to keep everything else relatively low-key in the makeup department. We love a matte, bright lip with very full lashes and nude eyeshadow, for example, because it's a look that's both office Christmas party and girls night out appropriate. If you want your loud lips to stay put through more than one champagne, be sure to exfoliate and moisturise with balm, and then go in with a similar-coloured lip liner all over the lip before applying lipstick. Ready for our top 12?
From the London world premiere of Les Misérables to New York's fashion-forward screening of HBO's In Vogue: The Editor's Eye, there's been more than a few notable celebrity beauty looks to surface this week. Anne Hathaway is rocking her pixie cut with more edge, Amanda Seyfried looked like a screen siren beside her, and Kerry Washington stepped out with a fringe for The Hollywood Reporter's Power 100: Women In Entertainment Breakfast yesterday. But there's two more looks we're loving, so click through to zoom in and snoop the celebeauties.
Summer is just around the corner, which, in beauty terms, means it's all about the brights. From bright lips on stars like Rihanna and Amber Heard in a gorgeous orange-red, to coloured shadows and liners, we're loving the return of colour. Keen to get in on the action? Why not let your nails do all the talking, and paint them a sunny yellow? There's a shade to suit everyone, from marigold to pastel to neon and back again. We've pulled out our five favourites, so all you need to do is click through the gallery and take your pick!
It's easy to wrack up your beauty bills, but there are plenty of great finds at the chemist. While there are some beauty buys that are worth the investment, other times it's wise to be a bit more savvy with your makeup dollars. Discover what products are worth shopping the chemist aisles for when you keep reading.
As we walk bronzed pins first into Summer (we're using Alessandra Ambrosio's as our inspo — ha!), all things metallic come to mind. When it's warm out, we want to look shiny. And dewy. And glowy. Metallic makeup is universally flattering, just stick to the warm and cool skin rules and you really can't go wrong. Keep it simple, though, as metallic makeup catches the light (amazing) and you don't want to look too sparkly vampire. Save that for your dreams feat. Edward Cullen. You know the drill beauties, get clickin'.
If you haven't sorted out those Winter feet yet, treat yourself to some pampering time this weekend to get them open toe shoe ready. You've really left it quite late...! We asked the Sugars to tell us their favourite toe nail polish — kinda needs to go with everything and not clash with the polish on our fingernails — and the product they use to make their feet look photo shoot ready. From the perfect nude to the perfect pumice, come with us.
