We love a bit of behind-the-scenes beauty behaviour from models! And that's just what we got this week from Nicole Trunfio — who had a spa day with her bestie — and bombshells including Jess Hart and Jennifer Hawkins who were on set for various modelling jobs. We saw lots of amazing beauty looks at the Teen Choice Awards, and star including Lea Michele gave us a sneak peek of them in the hair and makeup chair. But that's just the beginning... click through to see all the beautiful candid pictures shared by celebrities this week.
We're turning over to all things British! After all, the weekend is bound to be a full-blown Brit-fest with the opening ceremony for the London Olympics kicking off early Saturday morning. From the impending 12 day sports-fest to the recent diamond jubilee to the never-ending inspiration from a certain newbie to the Windsor clan, we're currently enamoured with anything and everything to do with royal Britannia. To remind you of the fashion royalty that call the motherland home, we've collated our top ten, best dressed British style stars. Step inside to see who made the grade.
After the week that was in Paris for couture fashion week, we had a lot of ladies to choose from when it came to editing our top 10 best dressed celebrities of the week. Jennifer Lawrence looked really feminine in Christian Dior at the designer's showing on Monday; and Olivia Palermo was outstandingly beautiful in petal pink lace Valentino — which we think (and yes we always say this), could be her best look to date. Kate Middleton was out in yellow to support husband Prince William in Scotland, and Kate Bosworth did the LBD like only she can in Berlin. But there's plenty more to see, so let's go!
Lace makes us feel ladylike, girlie, and just a little flirtatious — we've fallen for the trend for these very reasons. Maybe you have a little lace dress hanging in your closet, or maybe a new pair of lacy shorts for the party season. Inside, we've culled a week's worth of the trend on a few of our favourite celeb stylers — from Jaime King's pretty shift dress to Missy Higgin's sweet Lover topper, this crew is guaranteed to give your style a little boost. The 2011 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards were held at Wembley Arena in London yesterday to celebrate the personal heroes of Radio 1’s listeners. Fans also voted for their favourite actors, athletes and music stars, with Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint taking out the best British actor award. He said, “I’m just the ginger one in the background. This shouldn’t be happening!” Rupert was also joined onstage by his co-stars Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis to present Tom Daley with the best British young sports star honour. The fun night was hosted by The Saturdays singer Mollie King and TV presenter Nick Grimshaw, with some entertainment provided by Jason Derülo, Pixie Lott and Joe Jonas.
Want to know the secret to giving yourself a minute makeover? It's all in the shoes. We spotted Fearne Cotton giving her monochrome spotted frock a hit of scarlet via her very sexy platform sandals at Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday anniversary bash. And it's not the first time. Fearne knows the power a brightly coloured shoe can weild over a dull-ish ensemble. Take a leaf out of her style book with these top tips:
- A pair of bright heels (or flats, or wedges) adds instant dimension and interest to any look, really. Test drive the effect with a basic look, like a white tee and denim. Stepping into a bright pair of shoes will amp up that ensemble instantaneously.
- Why footwear? Investing in a playful pair of heels is a safe way to spend, since your feet aren't likely to change sizes. Of course, if you fear the colour you choose won't be "in" for very long, opt for a budget-friendly pair. If you do opt for a more expensive pair, keep it in a classic colour, like red.
- Bright shoes are also a safer way to experiment with bolder colours. If, for example, you've always loved lime green or orange, but feared you couldn't pull it off with your complexion, shoes are the perfect way to add the hues you love in a less-obvious way.
- Keep a pair of bright heels in your bag or under your desk. Then, think of them as your secret weapon — slip them on before date night or on your way out of work for a quick outfit refresh that doesn't require stopping off at home.
Many of London’s elite gathered to celebrate what would’ve been Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday at the Savoy Hotel yesterday. At an event called Freddie for a Day, guests including Princess Beatrice, her boyfriend Dave Clark, Princess Eugenie, Fearne Cotton and Holly Branson partied with Queen band members Roger Taylor and Brian May to commemorate the late Freddie. They had fun with stick on moustaches and were entertained by the likes of funny men Matt Lucas and Bill Bailey. Beatrice and Eugenie were recently in Rome with their mother, Sarah Ferguson, to attend the wedding of Petra Eccelstone.
While nude nails ruled the CFDA Awards, we were thoroughly pleased to see celebs bust out the bold and bright manis at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Jessie J and Ellie Goulding rocked coloured tips in gold and neon pink, Kristen Stewart and Daisy Lowe sported metallic blues and Fearne Cotton showed that a good classic red works wonders. Plus the French mani seems to be making a comeback — it's the third time we've spotted it on the red carpet this week!
The Brits (with a few Hollywood A-listers thrown in for good measure) showcased their best in beauty at the 2011 Glamour Women of the Year Awards today. Kristen Stewart — pictured here with Garrett Hedlund — went with a classic brown smoky eye, while singer Jessie J and radio presenter Fearne Cotton both switched up their hairstyles. Matthew Morrison channelled geek chic, Kim Kardasian worked a sleek and slick up 'do and there were plenty of arty manicures in the house — stay tuned for more — but for now, have a scroll through our gallery and tell us which celeb had the best beauty look!
