Katy Perry continued her international press tour for Katy Perry: Part of Me (in cinemas now) by attending the London premiere yesterday. The chart-topping pop star is missing out on US Independence Day but showed love to her UK fans with sparkly red, white and blue lashes, and an umbrella and ring featuring the Union Jack. Just as she did at her Sydney pink carpet on Saturday night, Katy took plenty of time to pose for photos and sign autographs for the crowd. The 3D concert film charts the career highs and personal lows that Katy experienced last year while performing around the globe on her California Dreams tour.
It may be Independence Day in the States, but yesterday Katy Perry was happy to show her support for the UK wearing red, white and blue jewelled lashes to the London premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me. Sporting a relatively demure beauty look that featured an over-sized, retro-looking bun, a red wine lip and smoky eyeliner, the lashes initially looked black until Katy blinked, revealing the jewels. Love the look? Recreate it at home with Lash Me Glow-in-the-Dark Metallic Multi-Coloured Reusable Eyelashes ($7.95). Zoom in on Katy's statement lash line now.
Two of the most anticipated comic book blockbusters are coming to the big screen this month, and we're guessing dedicated fans have been crossing off dates on their calendars for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. But if that's not your thing, don't worry about not having anything to see at the cinemas, because it seems like July's releases have great options for comedy fans and music lovers — oh, and a small film where some of Hollywood's hottest men play strippers. Check out our pick of the July flicks.
After premiering in front of a star-studded crown in Sydney over the weekend, Katy Perry: Part of Me opens to all of her fans in cinemas across the country today. Described as a "3D backstage pass, front row seat and intimate look at the fun, glamorous, heartbreaking, inspiring, crazy, magical, passionate, and honest mad diary of Katy," the film follows her California Dreams tour and is the closest her fans will come to being there with her. In a sneek peek we've already shown you that Katy goes makeup-free on camera, but in the above spot we get to meet her long-time makeup artist Todd Delano, who was plucked from a makeup counter ahead of Katy's big break with "I Kissed a Girl" and who hasn't looked back since. You'll see Delano getting to work on a bare-faced Katy who seems to prefer to lie down while being made-up!
The Week in Pictures: Kate Waterhouse & Luke Ricketson Marry in Italy, Katy Perry's Sydney Premiere & More!
In one of the most romantic wedding ceremonies we've ever seen, Sun Herald fashion editor and ex-rugby league player, Luke Ricketson, got married in Italy this week. Kate looked stunning and we adored Luke's blue suit! Congratulations to the happy couple. Katy Perry was in Sydney for her Saturday night premiere of Katy Perry Part of Me, and the Spice Girls reunited to launch their musical. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone attended the big LA premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man, and also joked around at a charity event in New York before the big day. Cutest. Couple. Ever. Cotton candy trees, giant lollipops and hundreds of screaming fans lined the pink carpet at the Sydney premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me (out July 2) at Event Cinemas on George St last night. As Katy Perry’s fans, known as KatyCats, waited for the pop star to arrive — some had been standing on the sidelines all day — many of Katy’s chart-topping hits were played through the complex during a fun karaoke session. Ruby Rose, a friend of Katy’s, was among the celebrity guests and posted on Twitter that she was going to take two lucky people into the movie as her dates. Ricki-Lee Coulter told us she’d previously met Katy when she interviewed her during her time at Nova, describing Katy as a “fierce, intense woman.” Others who walked the pink carpet included The Voice grand finalist Sarah De Bono, Emma Birdsall, Reece Mastin and Michelle Bridges.
When Katy made her entrance, she dazzled fans and media in a Versace dress and Christian Louboutin perspex heels. As she posed for photos and signed autographs for one group of people, her eyes lit up as fans in another section started singing her songs. Asked what she wanted fans to take away from the film, Katy told us, “I just want them to have more of a human connection with me, I guess. [I want them] to be encouraged and inspired that they don’t have to change who they are, or own one thing, or try and be like someone else just to fulfil their dreams. Just because the world is advertising that you should do or be something doesn’t mean you have to believe in that.”
Katy Perry arrived at Sydney Airport this morning after catching a flight from LA. Her appearance was relatively low-key compared to her crazy on-stage outfits but still showcased her love of clashing prints. The pop star is here for a short and sweet press tour to promote her 3D movie Katy Perry: Part of Me (out July 2) — tomorrow night she’ll walk the pink carpet at the Sydney premiere. Shortly after her touchdown, Katy headed to her hotel, where she’s been spotted taking in the view from her window.
Following in the steps of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry is set to release her own documentary style movie, Katy Perry Part of Me. Best viewed in 3D, the movie follows Katy as she performs during her last tour, and includes all her glamorous ups and heartbreaking downs. It's a real insight into the life of a pop starlet. Her divorce from British comedian Russell Brand isn't off-limits, either, as the fly-on-the-wall style film allows an all-access pass into Katy's personal and professional life. The film hits cinemas on July 2, but in the meantime, click through to get in the know...
