Katy Perry continued her international press tour for Katy Perry: Part of Me (in cinemas now) by attending the London premiere yesterday. The chart-topping pop star is missing out on US Independence Day but showed love to her UK fans with sparkly red, white and blue lashes, and an umbrella and ring featuring the Union Jack. Just as she did at her Sydney pink carpet on Saturday night, Katy took plenty of time to pose for photos and sign autographs for the crowd. The 3D concert film charts the career highs and personal lows that Katy experienced last year while performing around the globe on her California Dreams tour.
Cotton candy trees, giant lollipops and hundreds of screaming fans lined the pink carpet at the Sydney premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me (out July 2) at Event Cinemas on George St last night. As Katy Perry’s fans, known as KatyCats, waited for the pop star to arrive — some had been standing on the sidelines all day — many of Katy’s chart-topping hits were played through the complex during a fun karaoke session. Ruby Rose, a friend of Katy’s, was among the celebrity guests and posted on Twitter that she was going to take two lucky people into the movie as her dates. Ricki-Lee Coulter told us she’d previously met Katy when she interviewed her during her time at Nova, describing Katy as a “fierce, intense woman.” Others who walked the pink carpet included The Voice grand finalist Sarah De Bono, Emma Birdsall, Reece Mastin and Michelle Bridges.
When Katy made her entrance, she dazzled fans and media in a Versace dress and Christian Louboutin perspex heels. As she posed for photos and signed autographs for one group of people, her eyes lit up as fans in another section started singing her songs. Asked what she wanted fans to take away from the film, Katy told us, “I just want them to have more of a human connection with me, I guess. [I want them] to be encouraged and inspired that they don’t have to change who they are, or own one thing, or try and be like someone else just to fulfil their dreams. Just because the world is advertising that you should do or be something doesn’t mean you have to believe in that.”
Following in the steps of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry is set to release her own documentary style movie, Katy Perry Part of Me. Best viewed in 3D, the movie follows Katy as she performs during her last tour, and includes all her glamorous ups and heartbreaking downs. It's a real insight into the life of a pop starlet. Her divorce from British comedian Russell Brand isn't off-limits, either, as the fly-on-the-wall style film allows an all-access pass into Katy's personal and professional life. The film hits cinemas on July 2, but in the meantime, click through to get in the know...
The pink carpet was rolled out in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre for the LA premiere of Katy Perry’s 3D movie Katy Perry: Part of Me (out July 2), a biopic that follows her singing and performing career as well as her personal life behind the scenes. Katy made her entrance in a Dolce & Gabbana gown, and posed for photos with her celebrity pals Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen and Shannon Woodward, as well as her grandmother Ann Hudson, who features in the film. Katy also hit the stage for a performance, emerging from a giant popcorn box dressed in cinema-inspired outfit that matched her fun nails. Australian fans will be able to get a glimpse of the pop star when she makes an appearance at the Sydney premiere on Saturday night.
THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.
Katy Perry is one of the celebrities we wish we could know a little better away from the bright lights and out of costume. That’s why we’re all hanging out for the release of her biopic Katy Perry: Part of Me (only at the movies July 2), which is described as a “3D backstage pass, front row seat and intimate look at the fun, glamorous, heartbreaking, inspiring, crazy, magical, passionate, and honest mad diary of Katy.”
To celebrate the release of Katy Perry: Part of Me, we’re teaming up with Paramount Pictures to give away 10 in-season double passes to see the movie. To be in the running, all you have to do is tell us in the comments section below which of Katy’s songs is your favourite, and why.

We're used to seeing her on stages and red carpets around the world in an array of elaborate costumes, frocks and who-knows-what-hair colour (at the time we hit publish, it was currently purple) but we get to see a new side to Katy Perry in her upcoming Katy Perry: Part of Me movie. Like Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, the July release traces Katy's last year both on and off the stage. And despite remaining fiercely private since her then-husband, Russell Brand, filed for divorce earlier this year, Katy did reveal on Ellen that she plans to let fans in to the painful breakup in the 3D movie: "I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. So that’s why I decided to put everything into the film," Katy said. Something else the singer isn't frightened of? Appearing without a trace of makeup. Yep, she joins the long line of stars who have dared to go bare in recent months. Check out a sneak peek of the movie now.
