First Look: Kevin Murphy's African Goddess Hair at Tonight's Myer Spring Summer Collection Launch

Models including Jennifer Hawkins are strutting the runway as we type, but here's a sneak peek at Kevin Murphy's African Goddess hair look at the Myer Spring Summer Collection Launch.

Models including Jennifer Hawkins are strutting the runway as we type, but here's a sneak peek at Kevin Murphy's African Goddess hair look at the Myer Spring Summer Collection Launch. Inspired by the African influences of Myer’s Spring Summer campaign shoot, Kevin Murphy and his team of stylists have been hard at work today creating the sleek, low-set ponytail on the models.

"To compliment the colourful print-on-print designs we’ll be seeing on the runway this season, we wanted to create a hair look that was simple and modern yet sophisticated and sexy, with its own striking pop of colour. Taking inspiration from Myer’s African shoot we decided to create a sexy, pulled back, ambre dip-dyed style,” says hair director, Kevin Murphy.

The powerful hairstyle is easy to get at home, click though to find out how.

We've Got the Colour Bug: See How Easy It Is to DIY Dip-Dye Your Hair at Home

Coloured hair is the biggest trend since ombré.

Coloured hair is the biggest trend since ombré. And now, we're not talking your classic blonde, brunettes and reds. We mean pink, purple, orange, yellow, blue. You name it, we've seen it on a celebrity (Nicole Richie, Lauren Conrad, January Jones and just today, Demi Lovato) or a runway (Manning Cartell, Chanel, Marc Jacobs) in some way, shape or form. Not ones to miss out, but also not really wanting to sacrifice our worked-hard-for perfect colour, associate editor Alison and I did the next best thing and reached for the temporary hair dye. The new gen powder type that is that promises to be easy-to-apply, wash out and give you the ability to switch up your style from night to night. See how we got on.

Pops of Pastel at Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2013

Just yesterday another A-lister dip-dyed her strands pink and if that's not proof enough that the coloured hair trend is here to stay, then the Resort 2013 runways may convince you otherwise.

Just yesterday another A-lister dip-dyed her strands pink and if that's not proof enough that the coloured hair trend is here to stay, then the Resort 2013 runways may convince you otherwise. First we had the pastel "bob tops" at Chanel in pretty pink, lavender and mint green and now we're seeing similar hues over at the Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort '13 show where models — including one of our hottest exports, Bambi Northwood-Blyth — wore lavender, sky blue and neon green hair extensions in with their natural hair. Not ready to commit to a permanent colour change or costly extensions? Experiment with KEVIN.MURPHY Color.Bugs ($24.95 each) which is kind of like coloured chalk for your hair that washes off. Too easy.
