It may have been raining last night at Sydney, but that didn't put a dampener on the glamour on show at Moore Park's Entertainment Quarter for the much anticipated premiere of The Great Gatsby. The official invitation asked "a hint of 1920s" from the A-list guest list, and deliver they did — some getting more into the theme than others. Leading ladies Carey Mulligan and Elizabeth Debicki took a more relaxed approach to the dress code, donning a Nina Ricci bustier and Lanvin trousers, and full-skirted floral Christian Dior respectively. Others, like Emma Freedman, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Deborah Hutton, got right into character in flapper-esque dresses with plenty of sparkle.

The middle of the road approach looked the chicest to us; best exemplified by Laura Dundovic, Delta Goodrem, Kate Peck, Alice Burdeu and Jesinta Campbell who added who paid subtle tributes to the era via headpieces, antique lace, deco shapes or metallic fabrications. The Met Gala took place earlier this week and lots of celebrities shared photos from the fashionable event, and then quickly got on with their usual lives with more updates on social media. Jackie O was thrilled to finally meet her idol, Gwyneth Paltrow, in NYC, while Laura Dundovic graduated from uni with her psychology degree. Rhiannon Fish and Jodi Gordon participated in Nike’s She Runs the Night event, and Delta Goodrem shared a silly selfie from the set of The Voice, which moved into its Showdown phase this week.

Australian magazine CLEO threw a star-studded party at Cherry Bar in The Star last night to celebrate its newly-relaunched issue. The special guest of honour was an Alex Perry-clad Kelly Osbourne, who flew into the country on the weekend — she’s the magazine’s back-page columnist and said she was excited to get on board “because the first thing they said to me was, ‘We’re not going to edit you, you can say whatever you want.’ I was like, ‘Yes! I cannot believe they’re going to let me say what I want!’” After discussions with editor Sharri Markson she said they would “make sure we talk about topics that readers want to hear about, and I can share what I’ve been through in that area, because I’m not going to talk about things I don’t know about. To me, that’s a great opportunity for me to share my experience with other people.”

Kelly brought her boyfriend Matthew Mosshart along for the trip, which has included a boat ride around Sydney Harbour and a visit to her “favourite pie stand” Harry’s Cafe de Wheels. She told us, “I usually get the meat pie with mashed potatoes and peas and gravy — it’s my absolute favourite. And I’ve been telling my boyfriend all about it, so tonight we’re going to go there so he can have it. We met people there who were getting married there! I was like, ‘Really?’ That is the most awesome thing ever.”

Inside the bash, where guests such as Laura Dundovic, James Kerley, Timomatic, Prinnie Stevens, Nikki Phillips, Darren McMullen and Zoe Marshall had gathered, Sharri hit the stage (after an introduction by the Stenmark twins, Jordan and Zac) to reveal that they shot Kelly for an upcoming CLEO cover, and to share an anecdote about a rude-but-funny joke that Kelly made when they went to dinner at Icebergs together. Kelly, who usually gives her style critiques on E!'s Fashion Police, gave her verdict on Aussie men (“I have to say — sorry, Matthew — but Aussie men are hot”) and thanked The Star for their hospitality, with a special cheeky mention to the security guard who refused her entry into the casino on Monday night because he thought she was using a fake ID.

Last night at Sydney's The Star, a bevy of beautiful celebrities turned out for Cleo magazine's much-anticipated relaunch. New columnist Kelly Osbourne was flown in especially for the event, and of course, we just have to zoom in on those purple locks! Lavender is a universally flattering shade, the key — as Zoe Marshall also proves — is matching the right shade of the pretty hue to your skin tone. Laura Dundovic shone in a sexy Manning Cartell two-piece, chosen by beau James Kerley, Zoe Marshall looked chic in a plunging lilac Suboo sheath, Celebrity Apprentice contestant Prinnie Stevens was elegant in white in Bless'ed Are The Meek number, Nikki Phillips went the embellished route in a red leather Isabel Marant shift, and editor Sharri Markson took Kelly's lead by opting for a corseted Alex Perry party frock. We have to admit, it was the photo Stephanie Rice posted to Instagram last night — of her and Chris Hemsworth — that first alerted us to her cool, vampy lip. Cosmopolitan magazine celebrates its 40th birthday this month and rounded up Australia’s glamorous social set for an exclusive lunch at Otto Ristorante at Woolloomooloo in Sydney yesterday. The publication’s editors over the years came together for the event and were joined by the likes of Jodi Anasta, Rachael Finch, Laura Dundovic and Kate Waterhouse to dine under a canopy of balloons that were so low the guests had to watch their heads whenever they stood up. It was a lovely afternoon for celebrities to catch up with friends, and towards the end of the lunch current editor Bronwyn McCahon addressed the stylish room, surprising them with the news that everyone would be going home with a new BlackBerry.

The opening of the highly anticipated Giorgio Armani beauty counter inside Myer's Sydney city store drew a select but stylish crowd last night. The unofficial theme of the evening looked to be black and white, with the well-dressed guest list showing they really knew how to work this season's monochrome trend. Zoe worked a scultpural two-piece by Steven Khalil and studded clutch by Alexander McQueen. Laura Dundovic worked the two-tone trend via a peplum cocktail frock, Magdalena Roze tempered her flirty, feathered dress with a leather moto jacket and Nicole Warne (aka Gary Pepper Vintage) donned an allured lace dress from Lover and scarlet Charlotte Olympia heels. Australian stars frocked up for the official opening of the Giorgio Armani beauty counter at Myer's Sydney city store last night. They included TV personalities who were fresh from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia festivities, such as Laura Dundovic, Zoe Marshall, Magdalena Roze (who also attended the unveiling of the new Qantas uniforms yesterday) and glossy-haired blogger Nicole Warne. Myer ambassador Kris Smith was also on hand for the event, looking sharp in a suit. Laura seemed to have a great night testing beauty products and tweeted, "Amazing event @Myer_MyStore. Had so much fun trying all the #giorgioarmanicosmetics!"

With two of Australia's biggest fashion events falling in the same seven-day period, we always knew this was going to be a doozy of a week when it comes to style. The Logies were off first — TV's "night of nights", where our favourite stars get to doll up and wear Oscars-worthy gowns. Some were incredible — and some less so — but Samara Weaving certainly stood out from the crowd, in the best way possible. Joining her on the red carpet best-dressed list? Laura Dundovic and Carrie Bickmore, in their equally impressive gowns.

And then came fashion week. From Aussie models and TV presenters to women who are recognised globally for their style blogs, the streets of Redfern hadn't looked this good since. . . well, a long time. Lara Bingle kicked things off with a cut-out number in her current go-to colour, black, while Nikki Phillips generously contributed to the colour spectrum with her mini-skirt suit set. And the rest of the globe? Miranda Kerr's street style won us over (again) in LA, Solange Knowles did what she does best, and Katy Perry?
