After hearing the news that Robert Pattinson had signed a three year deal with Dior to be the new face of their men's fragrances, we of course got very excited. Worth an estimated USD$12 million, Robert has made no secret of his preference for the brand, choosing to wear Dior Homme to events including this year's Cannes Film Festival. But alas, it was all rumours. The sparkly vampire is not the new face of Dior men's fragrances, but we can continue to celebrate his hotness anyway. Leave it to the Aussie hunks, right? Givenchy has named The Mentalist star Simon Baker as the new face of their upcoming fragrance. While there's no details on the scent as yet, we can confirm the campaign will launch in print and on TV early next year. Thierry Maman, global president of Givenchy told WWD, "Simon was a natural choice for us — he has aristocratic elegance and charisma. These are all values which have been linked with the brand since Hubert de Givenchy."
We've been waiting, baited, following the news that Brad Pitt (in all his hotness) is the first male face of Chanel N°5. The world went into a spin questioning if a man could sell a woman's fragrance, but surely if any man can, it's Mr Pitt.
"What’s important to remember about Chanel N°5 is how revolutionary this fragrance is. When it was introduced, it broke all the rules by discarding meaningless ornamentation for an honest and open aesthetic and a scent which embodies liberation from trend, creating a fragrance which remains as modern today as it was in it’s inception. That's right, a man selling a woman's fragrance. Chanel signed Brad as the new face of Chanel N°5 back in May and now, we're just days away from seeing the commercial and print ad featuring Hollywood's leading man. Andrea d’Avack, president, Chanel Fragrance & Beauty told WWD, "It is the first time we’ve had a man speaking about a women’s fragrance. We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. N°5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level."
The commercial ad — set for release in mid October — is shot by Joe Wright (pictured above right) and features Brad talking to what at first seems like a woman, but is in fact the famous scent. We can't wait to see it but in the meantime, listen to a teaser of Brad after the break.
