Every so often we have weeks where it feels like every star who steps out just looks phenomenal. This has been one of those weeks. Between Miranda Kerr in New York and Jennifer Hawkins in Australia, supermodels Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik, and actress Dianna Agron, we didn't know which way to turn — all we know is that everyone is killing it. In this gallery, you'll find our Top 10 celebrity beauty moments of the week, including one stars incredible purple eyeshadow, another with a popping lip and one who added some sex appeal to the humble french braid. Celebrities are never short of a new hairstyle or look to try, and with all different personalities come all different preferences. But there's one hairstyle trend that seems to be impossible to ignore, and with a multitude of stylish stars sweeping aside their locks (or in some cases, chopping them off!), exposing yourself has never been more in vogue. That's right, gone are the days of long locks cascading past both shoulders; nowadays it's all about how much skin can be shown — but only in the most subtle of ways. Whether it's an ear, a neck, a jawline, or a whole décolletage exposed, it's beautiful. January Jones did it perfectly at the 2013 Emmy Awards last week, and before her Diane Kruger and Miranda Kerr led the way. Click through to see all the stars trying this trend, then get sweeping — BYO mismatched earrings or ear cuff!
Hair can be difficult to maintain, are we right? So sometimes going the extra mile and styling it to look presentable is a concept that belongs in the too-hard basket — but not anymore. Starting right now, we're running a weekly series of inspirational hair galleries, where we take hair colour and style cues from our favourite celebrities. First up in the series: vampy and mysterious brunette beauties. From Miranda Kerr's sexy waves, to Alexa Chung's rough chop, Zooey Deschanel's blunt fringe and Kate Middleton's fit-for-a-princess shine — all the dark hair inspiration you need is in here, ready to be spied on, snapped up and made your own. Are we missing any brunettes you take inspiration from? Let us know, and we'll add them to the gallery! Next week, we'll turn our attention to racy redheads we love.
Happy 30th birthday, Miranda Kerr! It's hard to remember the young country girl who tried her luck in a DOLLY modelling competition, just look how far she’s come! Miranda's gig as a high-profile model means she’s switching up her looks all the time, but throughout it all her signature dimples and radiant glow have remained ever-present. With all eyes on the birthday girl, we take a trip down memory lane. Have a good one, Miss Miranda!
Between front-row Fashion Week sightings, the Brit Awards and pre-Oscars parties, we had a lot of events to cast our eye over for the top beauty looks this week. As usual, our favourite hair and makeup mavens pulled out all the stops with their looks: Miranda Kerr was looking gorgeous, with bright lips and pretty eyes, while style icon Miroslava Duma had us oohing and aahing over her cute braids. Rosie Hunting-Whiteley was all blonde bombshell (isn't she always?) and Vanessa Hudgens went for a dark and sexy look. There's more to see, so start clicking through!
Some week's it's all about the lips, others it about the glittery take on eyeshadow, but this week, so much celebrity beauty came down to the hair. Many of our favourites were working bold hairstyles that we can't wait to copy — from Miranda's va-va-voom voluptuous curls, to Blake Lively's slinky waves and Ke$ha's cool braid. It wasn't just about the hair, though — Amanda Seyfried's amazing eyeliner has to be seen to be believed and we're basically head over heels for Megan Fox's so-vampy-it-hurts look. It's all here and more, so click through to check it all out!
We know her best for that Victoria's Secret bod and her perfect model style, but Miranda Kerr is also a dark horse in the off-duty beauty stakes. She's a big fan of low-key hair, but we think her top knot on the streets on New York yesterday is definitely one to try at home. The proof is in the Christmas pudding that you don't need to try hard to make this hairstyle work — it's all about letting those baby hairs and flyaways do their thing.
Start with second-day hair, and add some salt spray to the mid-lengths and ends, we love Evo Salty Dog Beach Cocktail Spray ($26.95). Rough dry the product in using the hot setting on your hairdryer, and then leave for a few minutes to cool (the secret to any lasting hairstyle is allowing your strands to cool, and set). Once you have that edgy texture, whip it up into a messy bun and gently create some flyaways by rubbing the palm of your hand in circular motions around the rest of your head. Voilà! The perfect off-duty model beauty look.
As one of Sydney's most in-demand hairdressers, Original A's Alan Buki has Melbourne Cup and Spring racing hair on the brain. He knows only too well that when it comes to wearing a bold fascinator or daring hat, it's important the hairstyle you choose complements the piece — rather than compete with it. Alan says there's five classic hairstyles as seen on stars including Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo that won't let you down on the big day, so click through.
We've all been there — standing on the street with a fresh cut and colour that looks nothing like we envisaged or the picture we presented. We said Alexa Chung's choppy crop and walked out with something resembling The Rachel, circa 1994. We're upset and we kind of want to cry, but there's no way in hell we're going to walk back in and actually tell the hairdresser we hate it. Besides, maybe it will grown on us? Or maybe we can go home and wash it. Then straighten it. Then tie it up. If you've been in a similar situation, our bet is you spent a lot of money and time in the chair acquiring that hair, so we decided to quiz Original A's colour director, Wayne Lewis, about all things hairdresser etiquette. What can we do to better prepare ourselves for a visit to the salon? And, what should we say if we don't want that $50 blow dry at the end? Come on!
Miranda Kerr stepped out in Sydney today to announce her new role as the Australian ambassador for a soon-to-be-launched hair care range. Making the announcement at the Palm House in the Royal Botanical Gardens, Miranda showcased exactly why she's the perfect spokesmodel for the range, with her glossy brunette locks almost stealing the show. The range is called Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, and is currently fronted by Heidi Klum in the US campaigns. This gig will join Miranda's other ambassador roles — she currently fronts David Jones, Qantas, Lipton Iced Tea (in Japan) and her own skincare range, Kora Organics. Busy girl!
