It was a wild night around the globe with the celebration of New Year's Eve, and stars got in on the action too. Jay-Z and Coldplay sang in 2013 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn while Jenna Dewan watched fireworks with husband Channing Tatum in St. Barts. Rachel Zoe spent a tropical evening with friends and Sofia Vergara said goodbye to 2012 with fiancé Nick Loeb. That's not all that went on — click through to see how all the celebrities partied into the new year!
Fizz. Pop. Clink. That's the sound of 2013 approaching — time to put on your sparkliest dress, let your hair down, and get ready to ring in the new year. MAC's Director of Creative Artistry Gregory Arlt came by our studio in Los Angeles to show how you can pair glittery eyes with a red lip and not look over-the-top. Watch the step-by-step tutorial in today's Beauty How-To. On Kirbie: Baublebar earrings and Nicole Miller Dress.
Celebrities hit the red carpet for the premiere of New Year's Eve in Hollywood today, and as usual there was tough competition on who sported the best hair and makeup looks. From Fergie's old school Hollywood glamour style with blonde curls and a bold red lip to Michelle Pfeiffer's ringlets and Sofia Vergara's bombshell waves, we're turning the table to you to get your opinion. Which beauty takes out this battle?
2010 is upon us, but let's take one final peek back at the last night of 2009. Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie partied at Lavo in Vegas — Christina in a chiffon LBD and Nicole in a long-sleeve sequin dress. Leona Lewis wore an '80s poofy number, and Fergie donned a one-shoulder black sparkler with fingerless gloves. All glitzy, but which NYE outfit rocks your boat?
Hands up if you've been asked about your new years resolutions a zillion times so far? No matter how quickly it rolls over, I never seem to have the perfect answer. Sure, I'd like to be healthier, happier, and would love to know as much about climate change as I do about Miu Miu handbags, but there's no concrete resolution I know I'll really stick to come 2010. That was until I started thinking about my closet. It's full to the brim, but do I really need so much...errr...stuff?
One of my 2010 wishes is to keep a neat and concise wardrobe filled with classics and basics to see me through each season. No more dashes to the local chain store to stock up on disposable threads when I haven't got a thing to wear. No more splurging on something the day before I really need it, only to find I hate it the next day. And certainly no more sample sale 'it's three-sizes-too-big-but-I'll-get-it-altered' moments. No. I'm going to be a sensible shopper in 2010, filling my life with chic staples I'll love forever.
How about you? Do you have any fashion resolutions you're planning to stick to come the new year?
What to wear on NYE? It's always been a fashion conundrum of mine. Whether you're partying the night away or having quiet drinks with friends, the event always calls for a little somethin', somethin'.
You don't have to break the budget this year, thanks to our soaring Aussie dollar and Forever 21. After vising their online store recently, it was more a question of what not to add to cart, seeing as you can easily grab an entire outfit for less than $100!
Make like The Hills girls (Lo and Audrina are always sporting something from the US chain store) and say goodbye to 2009 in style!
