Before you clock off and officially announce it beer o'clock, there's one last thing to do ahead of Australia Day tomorrow: sort out your beauty look, of course! Whether you're hitting the beach, a mate's BBQ or fancy a cruise around the harbour we've got your style sorted — and the best bit is we didn't have to look far for inspiration with all the looks we've selected appearing at RAFW S/S 11/12. We tell you where to wear them and how to create the look at home.
We Chat to Fashion's Night Out Girl Jessica Gomes
From the pages of Sports Illustrated to the runways of Victoria's Secret, Jessica Gomes' 16 year modelling career has been quite the ride. Now 26, the Perth-raised has been named the ambassador for Vogue's Fashion's Night Out (which is tonight, BTW!). We sat down with Jess over a fresh juice (her) and a cup of tea (us) to quiz her on what's on her FNO dance card, her latest purchases and reminisce about walking for Ksubi's first ever RAFW show.
FabSugar: So tell us about your role with Vogue's Fashion's Night Out?
Jessica Gomes: I was the face of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and that's where I met Kirstie Clements. We got talking and then she thought I’d be great to be the ambassador for Vogue's Fashion's Night Out. It's really exciting for me because it lets me to be part of the Vogue family and to mingle with the Australian designers. I've attended the one (FNO) in New York so I kind of know what it's going to be like. But the one in Sydney is going to be pretty big this year.

Scope the RAFW Refresher at Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival
Feel like Fashion Week was so long ago now that you need a refresher course in the key looks of the season? The organizers of Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney must've been feeling the same way, coz last night they put on a keenly edited runway show of RAFW's finest at Sydney's Town Hall. All the key trends were represented, with colour blocking, white-on-white, pops of neon, graphic prints and statement trousers showcased by designers including (but not limited to) Dion Lee, Magdalena Velevska, Gary Bigeni and Karla Spetic. MBFF has got more fashion-fun on the cards, with events continuing until Saturday. Scope the full schedule here.
The Colour of Things To Come: This Season's Hottest Hues!

With a whiff of Spring in the air, it's now time to kick off our new season style tips. Taking our cues from the runways of RAFW, it was the prevalence of colour — bright, beautiful, block colour — that will be the key look for S/S 2011-12. We've rounded up the five top shades, and one buy-me-now piece that will get your wardrobe warm-weather ready. Your new season education starts here!
Rose Byrne's Runway To Resort Zimmermann Dress

Nicky and Simone Zimmermann had some friendly faces in the Chateau Marmont crowd over the weekend, with one of our best dressed local exports Rose Byrne turning up in LA to attend their Resort '12 collection launch. Rose made the perfect Zimmermann model and muse, wearing this cut-work dress which we saw not so long ago on the RAFW runway. But it wasn't just her head-turning dress that we'd seen before, with Ms Byrne borrowing fellow Aussie Miranda Kerr's Nicolas Kirkwood shoes from the Met Costume Institute Gala. Given that we are BIG fans of both Ms Byrne and Zimmermann's S/S 2011-12 collection, we are head-over-designer-heels for this home-grown collab. Rose's runway look is Resort-perfect in our books!

2011 RAFW Trend: Statement Trousers
Ok, ok, we know this is nothing new, but we simply could not ignore the number of stand-out strides that we saw strutting up and down Rosemount Australian Fashion Week runways. We told you about printed pants aaages ago, and recently gave you the heads up on coloured trousers too, so there's no excuse for you to be unfamiliar with the power of a statement-making stride. From Lisa Ho's wall paper print capris, to Karla Spetic's über bright slacks, to Lover's super sexy wide-legged flares, to the abstract printed goodness at Josh Goot, and Zimmermann's sheer floral numbers, the message from Fashion Week was clear: the trouser is still the statement piece for Winter 2011. Take a gander at which RAFW shows worked the trend best.

Fashion Week Flash: Red Hot Hues All Round at RAFW 2011

During our Rosemount Australian Fashion Week coverage, we couldn't help but notice that one colour kept turning up the heat on the runway. Day after day, it was scarlet that added spice to all that white-on-white business. It wasn't just any shade of crimson doing the rounds of the RAFW runways, uh uh. It was a very particular bright, verging-on-coral shade of blood red that turned out to be the hue of choice of the Spring/Summer 2011-12 season. From Lover's alluring-in-lace red dresses, to Christopher Esber's short and sharp party frocks, to Lisa Ho's statement trousers the message was clear; paint the town red! Be it a floor length, fish tailed frock a la Yeojin Bae, or a standout pair of wide legged pants from Therese Rawsthorne, our next purchase will be something in this hard-to-miss shade. The easiest way to get on the scarlet bandwagon? A brilliant red lipstick will update your entire wardrobe in a flash. We can't go past Estee Lauder's Pure Colour lipstick in Wild Fire. Smooth to apply, but with the opacity you need to make a statement, this lippy is your S/S updater in a tube! Vitamins C and E keep your lips supple, while that perfect red hue goes on solid and stays strong all day. Oh, and did we mention it smells faintly like fig. Yum! Get your paws on one and get on-trend in a RAFW minute.
2011 RAFW Trend: Jump To It!
The jumpsuit, romper, playsuit, all-in-one — whatever you want to call it, has proven to still be one of the hottest trends on the runway, shown in bright, block colours and soft, gauzy prints at RAFW. Designers Zimmermann, Marnie Skillings and Arnsdorf all opted for breezy full-length varieties, while Gary Bigeni, Manning Cartell and Shakuhachi kept lengths ankle-skimming and silhouettes streamlined. Bianca Spender, White Suede and Lisa Maree all played with proportions, cutting leg lengths mid-calf. We can't rave enough about the versatility of a jumpsuit — add a slouchy blazer and heels for cool Summer nights, or team with cute flats and statement jewels for an easy desk to dinner look.

2011 RAFW: Check Out the New Nail Trends to Wear Now!
There's no better accessory than your nails so when Fashion Week is on, we always pay close attention to models' digits to spot the new nail trends that you need to know about. Here's our wrap-up from RAFW and, as you'll see, it was all about nudes with OPI's classic Samoan Sands being the most popular hue of the week, taking to the runway five times! It was closely followed by Skull & Glossbones from the new Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection. We also saw an increase in nail foils with Camilla & Marc, Ellery, Rachel Gilbert and Romance Was Born all choosing them, while the half-moon mani is still going strong; we spotted it at Manning Cartell, Gail Sorronda and Magdalena Velevska. It's also the time to take in new shades and we saw OPI's So Many Clowns So Little Time and Essie's Topless & Barefoot make their debut . . .
