Megan Gale, Barbara Palvin & Runway Trends: The L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival Begins

We're lucky enough to be in Melbourne this week to help launch and celebrate the L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival. A high point in the city's social calendar, the Festival is week-long hub housing fashion, design and general creative panache. Speaking of panache, it's the very word Megan Gale - Australian face of L'Oréal Paris - said she wanted to bring back into vogue at yesterday's swish launch luncheon.

Megan hosted a room packed full of Melbourne socialites, designers and Australia's top beauty media (err, us!); and also graciously introduced us to L'Oréal's newest face, Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin. We must admit, we're quite smitten with the 19-year-old model, so funny, humble and candid. We heard from L’Oréal Professionnel hair and makeup directors - Brad Ngata, Caterina Di Biase and Rae Morris - who gave us the heads-up in terms of runway beauty. Expect to see grunge (à la Saint Laurent) alongside lady-like, polished looks. Click through to see the pictures.

Rae Morris Makeup Brushes Will Soon be Available to Buy Seperately

We've been big fans of makeup artist Rae Morris' brushes since they launched last year. Personally designed by Rae and individually hand-made, you can currently buy the full range of 26 brushes ($699) or a 10-piece edited collection ($199). But, if you can't justify outlaying so much money in one go, and want to build up your collection a little more slowly, we've got some good news. Tip of the Week: How To Correctly Wear and Apply Bronzer

We're well and truly feeling the effects of the warmer weather which means it's time to break out the bronzer and gradual tanner to get into Spring/Summer mode. We turned to L'Oreal Paris Makeup Director Rae Morris for her top tips for wearing and applying bronzer, without looking like an Oompa-Loompa.

When you are applying any cheek colour, never smile because when you do, you give yourself little lines around your eyes. Use a Kabuki brush, don't smile and apply it really high on your cheekbone. Only apply bronzer when you have a hint of a tan or if you are already tanned. Bronzer will only enhance your tan, not give you one - I don’t care if you're as tanned as Miranda Kerr or Megan Gale. I always put a hint of a rose stain under a bronzer, as it takes out that orange tone. Before you apply bronzer, add a little rose lip or cheek stain and then apply bronzer on top.

5 Minutes With Makeup Artist and Brush Guru Rae Morris

It's been a long time coming (almost three years in fact!) but finally L’Oréal Paris Makeup Director and best-selling author Rae Morris' brush collab with Crown Brush is about to hit the Australian market. Before embarking on her whirlwind trip to New York Fashion Week, we were lucky enough to catch up with Rae, who gave us the lowdown on what we can expect from her range of brushes and a few hints and tips for applying makeup correctly.

BellaSugar: How did you come to be involved in collaborating with Crown Brush for the Rae Morris Brush Range?
Rae Morris: Crown Brush approached me to do brushes with them and to be really honest, I wasn’t a makeup artist that wanted to start making products or create a brand, so they asked me what would it take, so I said "the brushes I use are like $400 a brush, and if they aren't as good as they are, if not better, then I'm not interested." So I thought they wouldn’t come back - and then they did. I tried to put it off because I was so busy. And they still came back and asked what it would take. And I said (off the top of my head) "I want them to be $35, the handles have to be recycled bamboo and they've gotta be animal-cruelty free," and they agreed to all of that. With my own brushes I had shaved them into a particular shape to make them the perfect point, so I thought there's nothing like them on the market, I won't compete with anybody, they’ll be the best brushes and if they sell, great, if not, I'll use them myself. And that's how it was all born.
