How many times have you gone out and bought a new hair product only to get it home and never use it? Yes, us too! But there's a few products we've put in the bathroom cupboard and then actually taken out again. These are the products are editors' see as hairstyling staples, so you can us trust us when we say they work! Try them! Let's go.
Brooklyn Beach Hair Spray is made with rosewater and jasmine, providing a delicious scent that's both floral and woodsy. This is one beach spray you'll want to wear all year round. The only thing that will give away this spray's Brooklyn roots is the healthy dose of volume you'll be sporting.
Backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia we spotted more than a few beauty trends, but we also kept a tally of the most-used products. Session stylists and makeup artists work hard and fast behind the scenes, and it's the "heroes" that become their multi-tasking, fix-all, use everywhere and on everything products. If you're wondering what your next beauty purchase might be, step this way.
Fashion week may have ended last week, but it hasn’t stopped us dreaming about all the to-die-for beauty looks we spotted on the runway. So, it's really no surprise we made a beeline straight to the lip looks. We’ve also picked some essential must-haves that we just couldn’t live without (of course!). It's time for some TLC, come see…
We got to snoop inside Liberty Watson's makeup bag last week, and now it's time for the big reveal. Watson X Watson sent modern surfer girls down the runway today at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, fit with a salty hair tuck by Redken's Philip Barwick, and the perfect pink lip and lip gloss eyes from Maybelline NY's Nigel Stanislaus. This could quite possibly be one of our favourite beauty looks so far at MBFWA, click through to learn more about it. Mahalo.
So you know we're going a little loco on the Australiana theme this week — but what better time to celebrate all that is great about Aussie celebs and products made Down Under than the lead-up to Australia Day? We always look forward to events like the Logies and any Australian film premiere, because we get to see stars including Jodi Gordon, Lara Bingle and Rose Byrne flexing their makeup muscles. We asked the Sugar eds to pick their all-time favourite Australian beauty moment; plus the product they'll be purchasing to get thy look at home.
Aside from the festive season and festival action (more on that later), we've got Summer beauty on the brain. With each new season, we try to experiment with different trends and beauty products because, well, it's very fun. We asked the Sugar editors to tell us what they'll be wearing on their pretty faces, legs, lips, in their hair and on their eyes. Ready for some inspiration?
Model Erin Wasson made an appearance on Extra last night, sporting tousled waves that were perfect for our approaching Summer. Lucky for us, this casual look is easy to create. After washing your hair, create a part and rough-dry your hair with your hands (or let it air-dry). Once your hair is just slightly damp, spritz in a sea salt spray like O&M Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray ($24.95) and work through with your fingers. Next, gently separate your hair into two halves and create loose buns on each side. Make sure to twist away from your face to get a flattering result. Just let dry overnight and wake up to effortless waves. For a dry-hair version, simply use the beach spray on dry locks, twist into buns, and use a blow dryer to set the look. Let your hair cool while you do your makeup, and there you have it: perfect waves.
It's no secret we've got a rather large girl crush on Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin. She's a rising star on the Hollywood ladder thanks to a new role in The Vampire Diaries, but the brunette was back in Sydney last night for Chanel's Little Black Jacket event. We couldn't help but notice a very fresh and sexy new haircut on the starlet, a big change from her previously long, brunette locks. Phoebe kept things at smouldering level with smoky eyes and metallic nails, the perfect combination to match her messy, undone hair. We've put together a few products to help you get her beauty look at home, but now, off to the hairdresser we go...
