The Spirit Awards took place yesterday and honoured the best in independent film.

The Spirit Awards took place yesterday and honoured the best in independent film. Silver Linings Playbook dominated the show, winning best feature, best director and best screenplay for David O. Russell and best female lead for Jennifer Lawrence. The other acting categories had some surprises, too: Matthew McConaughey won for his performance in Magic Mike, and John Hawkes, who didn't earn an Oscar nomination, won for best male lead for The Sessions.

Once the Spirit Awards red carpet wrapped, the stars headed inside for the show, where they mingled in between announcements. Bradley Cooper congratulated Matthew McConaughey on his win for Magic Mike while Jennifer Lawrence celebrated her best female lead statue for Silver Linings Playbook with Jeremy Renner. As for everything else? Dobrev kept it simple. Namely, she polished off her outfit with a beachy ponytail, one lone H.Stern ring, and matching gold strappy Jimmy Choo sandals.
