Though Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen first stole our hearts on Full House, it's their distinct, covetable, and trendsetting style that has us under a serious sartorial spell all these years later. This dynamic duo — who turned 27 yesterday — has taken the fashion world by storm as experienced entrepreneurs, respected designers, and CFDA Award winners, and we have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg. As the designers of choice for A-listers and models alike, it would be easy for Mary-Kate and Ashley to hide behind their luxe labels — we'll take one of everything from The Row's sleek line-up — but this fashion-forward pair not only talks the talk, but also walks the (cat)walk. While each Olsen has her own signature style — Mary-Kate's the queen of bohemian-chic and Ashley is the master of minimalistic polish — together they have defined eclectic glamour and culled legions of fans with their avant-garde expertise. Need proof? You got it, dude! Presenting 84 of their most twinning (we had to) style moments.
Happy birthday to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! The stylish sisters turn 26 today, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to review their stellar sartorial evolution. From their Full House days to their fashion alumni status thanks to their CFDA award for The Row, the Olsen twins have always had style in spades. We've noticed that M-K and Ashley channel each other in a way perfectly fitting of their non-identical genealogy; donning similar looks but stamped with their own distinct personalities. While Ashley favours classic lines and more polished accessories, Mary-Kate lets her boho-side show with languid silhouettes and lots of layering. Take a peek and see the Olsens grow from cutie-pie TV stars to bona fide fashion icons. Happy birthday girls!
Today's CFDA Awards drew an impressive crowd mixed with models, actors, fashion designers and industry heavyweights alike. Mary-Kate Olsen stood out from the fashion pack — and her sister — with shiny new brown locks, while Mandy Moore, Joan Smalls, Busy Philipps and Kate Bosworth jumped on the pink lip brigade with different interpretations of the candy-hued trend. Vogue's second Best Dressed issue just hit newsstands Stateside and nabbing the cover in honour of what the fashion bible has dubbed "The Year of the Sister" are the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley. Clad in lace eye masks and sporting the most velvet complexion we've ever seen, it's easy to see why the stylish sisters we hand-picked to lead the issue. Inside they get a '70s jet-set hair makeover, whilst Dakota and Elle Fanning (another stylish sibling duo) wear teased up 'dos and peach makeup. Take a sneak peek inside and catch the Olsens and co. in the new issue!
Apart from a new cossie, nothing says Summer like a new pair of sunnies! We're on the hunt for shades with celeb-cred, so we can stay shaded safe in the knowledge that we look as chic as Olivia does at Paris Fashion Week (well, here's hoping!). From the Olsen's classic aviators to Anna Dello Russo's colourful frames to Mossy's I'm-with-the-band wayfarers, these A-listers have the sunglasses that we're coveting right now. We went out and found similar, so you can be paparazzi-ready like Rachel Zoe in her graphic circular shades. Feel like some new face-furniture? Step inside to start your new season sunnies shopping....
One of our favourite things about fashion week are the celebrity sightings. You never know who to expect and, most importantly, what they'll be wearing. Our latest batch from Paris' fashion fest includes Olivia Palermo in sexy black lace, Dasha Zhokova in Proenza Schouler, and even Rachel Zoe and her husband sharing a sweet smooch. There's more celebrity spotting where that came from, so check out the slideshow to see the rest!
The front row at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week attracted almost as much attention as the runway itself, so we've chosen this week's Top Ten Best Dressed from the stylish celebs and fashion heavyweights who graced the coveted seats. From Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Zoe Saldana, who both donned Michael Kors numbers at his runway show, to Olivia Palermo and her enviable socialite style at Tibi, click through to see who made our final edit. Don't forget to tune back in tomorrow morning where we kick off with the red carpet action from the 2011 Emmys!
We're fascinated by the Olsens: two incredibly cute twins who have grown up to become wildly successful entrepreneurs, respected fashion designers, and modern-day style icons, and they've only just turned 25. Today we're digging this adorable video for StyleMint, the Olsens' new subscription-based shopping site. The site, which offers members products designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley, features new tees each month, and now, the sisters are launching a contest to see who is most T-worthy. Even if you don't enter the comp, it's nice to see the twins' silly, fun-loving side we've not seen since the Full House days.
What a collab! Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen just debuted their collection for Toms shoes made out of cashmere and Italian wool — come on, you knew they were going to add a luxe twist somewhere in the design process. "The giving is so immediate and transparent," said Mary-Kate Olsen. "Having the opportunity to be a part of something so meaningful has made the collaboration with Toms so special to everyone at The Row." The Row for Toms shoes collection features three styles in heather grey, a dark-plaid print, and black. Prices are steeper than the usual pair of Toms, ranging from $140 to $150 USD, because of the fancier fabrics, but you can feel good knowing every shoe purchased will be matched with a pair donated to a child in need. Sounds like a good reason to go shoe shopping to us...
What with the cast of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II touring the globe to promote their latest movies, we've been treated to many-a beauty look from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Emma Watson. We loved Rosie's soft waves as she hit Shanghai and Emma's slick strands she sported when she visited the Late Show with David Letterman. Also topping our Best Tressed list for the week are Lauren Conrad, who added some colourful strands to her blonde mane, and the Olsen twins who teamed their bright blonde hue with a bronzed complexion. Pretty! And last, but definitely by no means least, props to Kate Winslet for rocking a red hot lip at a Lancôme event. Scope all the looks up close now and be sure to tell us your favourite look!
