Happy birthday to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! The stylish sisters turn 26 today, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to review their stellar sartorial evolution. From their Full House days to their fashion alumni status thanks to their CFDA award for The Row, the Olsen twins have always had style in spades. We've noticed that M-K and Ashley channel each other in a way perfectly fitting of their non-identical genealogy; donning similar looks but stamped with their own distinct personalities. While Ashley favours classic lines and more polished accessories, Mary-Kate lets her boho-side show with languid silhouettes and lots of layering. Take a peek and see the Olsens grow from cutie-pie TV stars to bona fide fashion icons. Happy birthday girls!
The Olsen twins know a thing or two about killer off-duty style, so it's no real surprise that for their denim label TEXTILE by Elizabeth and James they went to a true blue street style queen Bambi Northwood-Blyth to model their latest look book. Their Autumn/Winter '12 collection covers all of our weekend wardrobe necessities: cool printed skinnies, slouchy oversized knits, cheeky logo print tees and a few fresh-to-eyes pieces that we've been searching for but couldn't find anywhere; cue camo-print denim, elbow-patched sweaters and classic indigo jeans with the perfect ankle slit so they sit just so. We can't get enough.
The Olsen twins must not be into sharing! Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have landed their own individual cover of UK Elle magazine's April issue. Given the enormous success of their Elizabeth and James, Elizabeth and James TEXTILE and The Row fashion lines, the ensuing interview centers of this stylish duo's passion for fashion (excuse the rhyme), as well as their hands-on approach, perfectionism and their thoughts on other celebrity fashion lines. Scan the highlights via Pop, then tell us below which cover you like best. Can't tell them apart? That's Mary-Kate on the left in the jewel-studded collar top, and Ashley on the right working a bejewelled Dolce & Gabbana dress. Images courtesy of UK Elle and Alexei Hayand.
Apart from a new cossie, nothing says Summer like a new pair of sunnies! We're on the hunt for shades with celeb-cred, so we can stay shaded safe in the knowledge that we look as chic as Olivia does at Paris Fashion Week (well, here's hoping!). From the Olsen's classic aviators to Anna Dello Russo's colourful frames to Mossy's I'm-with-the-band wayfarers, these A-listers have the sunglasses that we're coveting right now. We went out and found similar, so you can be paparazzi-ready like Rachel Zoe in her graphic circular shades. Feel like some new face-furniture? Step inside to start your new season sunnies shopping....
One of our favourite things about fashion week are the celebrity sightings. You never know who to expect and, most importantly, what they'll be wearing. Our latest batch from Paris' fashion fest includes Olivia Palermo in sexy black lace, Dasha Zhokova in Proenza Schouler, and even Rachel Zoe and her husband sharing a sweet smooch. There's more celebrity spotting where that came from, so check out the slideshow to see the rest!
This week we're turning to the beauties from the front row at New York Fashion Week for our top five celebrity beauty looks. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen removed their shades long enough for us to get a glimpse of their luminous complexions while Burberry beauty Rosie Huntington-Whiteley sported gorgeous gold eyeshadow at the Michael Kors show. Check out who made our top five and beauty products to recreate their f'row style!
When we spotted Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sitting pretty on J.Mendel's NYFW front row today it wasn't their crisp monochrome outfits or eclectic cool collection of gold finger bling that got our attention (although it does make a pretty styling side-note). The Olsen's coordinated their eyewear before leaving the house — both donning classic aviator shades to shield their eyes from those blinding runway lights, and in the process reminded us just how cool this iconic sunglass style is. Don't own a pair? Well, it's time to invest! Taking MK and Ashley's lead, we've sourced ten of the best aviator sunglasses for your perusal.
What a collab! Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen just debuted their collection for Toms shoes made out of cashmere and Italian wool — come on, you knew they were going to add a luxe twist somewhere in the design process. "The giving is so immediate and transparent," said Mary-Kate Olsen. "Having the opportunity to be a part of something so meaningful has made the collaboration with Toms so special to everyone at The Row." The Row for Toms shoes collection features three styles in heather grey, a dark-plaid print, and black. Prices are steeper than the usual pair of Toms, ranging from $140 to $150 USD, because of the fancier fabrics, but you can feel good knowing every shoe purchased will be matched with a pair donated to a child in need. Sounds like a good reason to go shoe shopping to us...
Feel like a little recap of the fun and fashionable events that were shared on Twitter this week? Well, our TwitPic round up is just the place. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row handbags were the centre of attention at a party hosted at Barneys in NYC last night. Ashley and Mary-Kate had support from friends and various fashion editors, as well as a cameo from their younger sister Lizzie. Both Mary-Kate and Ashley were decked out in outfits from The Row, and carried two tuquoise styles from their lust-worthy collection. They mingled with the Barneys' crew after introducing nine bags made out luxe fabrics like ostrich and alligator skin, which go for a pretty penny — priced between $2,000 and $35,000 USD for a glazed black crocodile backback. Prices are a little lower however for the Olsens' other new endeavor, with their StyleMint t-shirts are selling for around $30 USD. It costs nothing to look though, so take a peek at their style-packed soiree!
