Yes, that's right — magnetic nail polish! In a nutshell, Orly's new Magnetic FX Nail Polish ($24.95) contains magnetic particles that move and lift when you hover the accompanying magnet over the top of a freshly painted nail. Each of the three colours comes with its own magnet creating a unique galaxy-like pattern. Amazing, right?! I trialled Opposites Attract (navy blue), but you can also buy Paint On Electron (silver) and Force Field (purple). I used my trusty Sally Hansen Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat ($12.28) to finish and I got a bit excited with the galaxy theme and dabbled with some Ulta3 silver glitter... Yes, sticky tape. It might sound a bit strange, but it's officially my new secret weapon to creating clean, straight stripes on my nails. Using sticky tape is a great alternative if you can't get your hands on a nail pen, and we all have a roll sitting at home (I found mine in with the Christmas wrapping paper). I used colours I had at home: Australis Streak Free Nail Polish in Sweet Pea ($7.95), Utla3 Nail Polish in Sunset Pink (approx $2) and Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat ($14.95). Other than that, grab your roll of tape, some clean, sharp scissors and a pinch of patience — and let's go!
When I first spoke about magnetic nail polish in the office, there was talk of how annoying it would be — having your nails attract everything metal. If you're thinking the same, there's no need to panic because your nails won't actually become magnetic. The polish itself features magnetic particles which means that, when it's drying, if you hold a magnet close to it, it creates a unique pattern. It's a subtle kind of nail art and a fun idea. If you want to learn more about it, including how you do it on yourself and what the patterns look like, just keep reading for our review of Ulta 3 Magnetic Nails ($5), which will hit stores in June.

I’ve been hunting for the perfect nail colour for Spring and I think I might’ve just found it. It’s called Spring Fling and it's by Ulta3. There are so many reasons why it’s perfect that I’ve started the list:
- Everyone’s wearing mint green so why not be different?
- Spring warrants a splash of colour but hot pinks and corals – while pretty – clash with pretty much everything in your wardrobe.
- Your boss also seems to frown whenever hot pinks and corals are worn. Weird.
- It’s way more interesting that baby pink. Been there. Done that. 1,000 times.
- If it chips and haven’t got the polish on you to do a touch-up, no one will notice because it’s not too unlike your natural nail colour.
- It suits all skin tones. Keep reading . . .
